Doesn't mean 3 isn't really hot -- it certainly is. The steam is consistent with the other temperature readings.

@Elaine I see smoke from 3 as well. They just had a 4.5 EQ fairly close to coast 39 min ago and 4 earthquakes above 5.0 in the last 10 hrs. Certainly won't help.

@dean I think that support pillar on the right is straighter though the ammount of steam over the last few hrs makes me think the sfp is tilting leaving some rods with little, if any, cover

That's why I found the Times article interesting -- same topic, looking at really rethinking nuclear use going forward, it sounds.

@Dean nothing TEPCP does would surprise me - there were noises on the cam half an hour ago & I wondred if TEPCO had got it it. Think it was heavy rain though

Maybe under guise of work towards fixing 3 cooling they're really installing inflatable air bladders under 4, to jack it up )

No disagreement, Edano. Basically, it is really tough, but time to push hard. This has to be a wakeup call. With Fuku 1 gone, Hamaoka going offline until some probably time-consuming upgrades can be done, this provides an initial window of opportunity to see what new things can be introduced.

What I see on hydrazine doesn't make sense as being used in an SFP. "Hydrazine is an inorganic compound with the formula N2H4. It is a colourless flammable liquid with an ammonia-like odor. Hydrazine is highly toxic and dangerously unstable unless handled in solution. " (wikipedia)

It is used in some rocket fuels -- maybe #4 hasn't been entertaining enough.

@LM and others in the US and Canada. I have not been in this forum for a few weeks but I have a question. Are there no government authorities in your countries that publish measured levels of I-131, Cs-134 and Cs-137 in grass or soil samples??????

Hmm, we're pouring in potloads of water, just added a truly nasty chemical, #4 is probably pretty hot due to radioactive water leakage -- yeah, I want a job building a pillar under that leaking, leaning, pool.

I can, but Ii was meaning they want more excitement on cam, RE the hydrazine. Maybe their ratings went down. They should be selling advertising. I hear TEPCO is a big buyer.

I've got an appt. so have to go after this: The reason I believe that reading at top of flange 1. It's not stuck. 2. It is in fair agreement with the others 3. The conditions are likely for that to be that high.

That's the same instrument that reported wild negative numbers, as well as over 500C just 9 hours before the really low negative number.
