    by RadioGuy 5/13/2011 1:10:18 AM

  • do you ever feel like we're living in a parallel universe to that of the mainstream media & the bulk of the population?

    by UKVal 5/13/2011 1:14:08 AM

  • @Veenie Thugs from a government more brutal than his beat him down, and someone let it happen. I think that's the subtext he felt.
    by RadioGuy 5/13/2011 1:15:12 AM

  • It's sad enough, that all these Evacuees are still suffering...........all that damage from the Tsunami.....but even that is flowing down the tube crapper.........so staying on the Nuke situation is i think to dangerous for the media outlets because the GoJ. just will not admit defeat with TEPCO's handling.....IF it were just TEPCO, believe me, we would have this wide open in the public..........The Media has got to stop making nice with Goverments........its the country that suffers

  • Re AC: Losing the "Infinite Invincibility" cheat is hard to take.
    by RadioGuy 5/13/2011 1:17:42 AM

  • @all You know...just thinking about the general lack of interest and concern for this story, I remembered during my lab days that most people are fairly cavalier about the dangers of radiation. Sure, they took precautions, but overall the attitude was rather lax. The small risk is greatly outweighed by the benefits. That refrain sounds familiar doesn't it?! People need to be more educated about the dangers.
    by LM 5/13/2011 1:18:06 AM

  • CNN covered it, albeit tepidly, and then it got buried on their site. I had to search for it.http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/05/12/japan.nuclear.reactors/index.html?iref=allsearch
    by Panserbjorne9 5/13/2011 1:18:21 AM

  • Sorry. Trying again www.cnn.com
    by Panserbjorne9 5/13/2011 1:19:08 AM

  • Well come on everyone, Facebook smeared Google! That affects everybody. Radiation only affects people in the future.
    by bo 5/13/2011 1:19:12 AM

  • @bo -very hollow laugh...
    by UKVal 5/13/2011 1:19:52 AM

  • Americans need to be slapped in order to get their attention...and radiation is invisible. @Bo and the effects are delayed...so true.
    by LM 5/13/2011 1:20:41 AM

  • @UKVal YES!!! re your post: do you ever feel like we're living in a parallel universe to that of the mainstream media & the bulk of the population?

by Debra Beckham 5/13/2011 1:25:42 AM

  • @Veenie Even my husband and kids think I'm obsessed, but their they're pretty understanding...until I start talking about it again.. LOL. My mom is really the only one who gets it because we lived there together in the early 80's. I'm glad she's around and all of you are here.
    by LM 5/13/2011 1:26:02 AM

  • I had a guy (an older gentleman) say "I don't listen to the news, because I don't want to hear about all the bad stuff, so I listen to classical music"
    by Angela5pointo 5/13/2011 1:26:14 AM

  • @radioguy here it is on NYT www.nytimes.com

    by elainekirk 5/13/2011 1:27:55 AM

    by bo 5/13/2011 1:28:08 AM

  • Also, a lot of people I know have a "what can I do about it?" kind of attitude
    by Angela5pointo 5/13/2011 1:28:24 AM

    by UKVal 5/13/2011 1:28:34 AM

  • New article on saving pets from the exclusion zone. www.npr.org
    by Panserbjorne9 5/13/2011 1:29:04 AM

  • @Panserbjorne9 exactly as was said below, the animal story has traction, the meltdown story doesn't. Maybe we should explain that the meltdown will affect even MORE animals than just the ones in the exclusion zone.
    by bo 5/13/2011 1:30:01 AM

  • Even...human animals!
    by bo 5/13/2011 1:30:15 AM

  • @bo -yes headline -dogs & cats doomed!!!
    by UKVal 5/13/2011 1:31:19 AM

  • @bo Unless people see boils and blisters, open sores from Radiation poisoning, it isn't going to help.......so, Animals need to be shown.......sick

    by Veenie 5/13/2011 1:31:41 AM
