  • @Veen Qui is there an official source to this info?
    by Mona 5/12/2011 9:09:19 PM

  • @Mona No.
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:09:52 PM

  • whats the distance of this camera from the NPP? I can see atmospheric distortion so it must be a reasonable distance?
    by Rexz 5/12/2011 9:10:09 PM

  • @Rexz 2 maybe 3 miles, maybe more. It's hard to say.
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:10:47 PM

  • @Mona Secondary site....via EDANO, not coming up for me
    zardoz.nilu.no
by Veen Oui 5/12/2011 9:10:50 PM

  • @Veen Oui I wonder if we can
find that information on NILU's official website and put into scientific context. zardoz.nilu.no is a non official source. The official NILU website is www.nilu.no
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:14:34 PM

  • look at cam!
    by LM 5/12/2011 9:14:53 PM

  • More smoke than we usually see during daylight.
    by LM 5/12/2011 9:15:55 PM

  • current Fukushima weather conditions 14c 57f, wind north at 3kmh, humidity 94%.

  • nilu is not censored. lots of data: zardoz.nilu.no
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:18:11 PM

  • @Mona : i see an UFO in the center ! ;)
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:18:58 PM

  • @Edano NILU's official website is www.nilu.no That one is non-official.
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:19:05 PM

  • @Mona There's «smoke» everywhere, including from under the camera. There go the smoke theories down the drain.
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:20:18 PM

  • @Edano :) a true amateur ;)
    by Mona 5/12/2011 9:20:33 PM

  • Do we know what time that image was taken, approx?
by Debra Beckham 5/12/2011 9:20:56 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus zardoz.nilu.no is owned by www.nilu.no
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:21:24 PM

  • Low lying clouds are moving near the camera above the tree tops. The plants are most definitely smoking.
    by LM 5/12/2011 9:21:30 PM

  • by Debra Beckham via I1097.photobucket 5/12/2011 9:22:00 PM

  • I'm guessing we don't know if its steam or smoke? Also, being early morning and maybe the temperature being lower, steam could be more clear? all just thoughts :P
    by Rexz 5/12/2011 9:23:10 PM

  • Thank you Debra!
    by LM 5/12/2011 9:23:21 PM

  • @Edano I know, that's exactly where I found the link to www.nilu.no I'm only saying the other site is non-official since Mona asked if there was official information corroborating that video. Is there?
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:23:28 PM

  • @Debra that was a pro pic. :) Mine was taken 2 hours 10 min ago
    by Mona 5/12/2011 9:23:33 PM

  • Steam/smoke. I apologize for not differentiating. Most likely steam at this point.
    by LM 5/12/2011 9:24:22 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus : i am not sure what the video wants to say. there is nothing horrifying in these forecasts.
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:24:38 PM

  • by Debra Beckham 5/12/2011 9:24:45 PM

  • @Debra Beckham : the cam man is smoking.
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:25:06 PM

  • i cannot judge if the usgov censors information... though, in fact, i am sure that they do.
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:27:45 PM

  • @Edano Of course not, for those of us who know which levels of radiation can be harmful. But for people who don't know that video is the prelude to the end of the world. Specially the intro. Highly unscientific. That link doesn't belong here, it should have been published on the other scribble so we could all
    have a laugh at it.
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:27:55 PM

  • @Edano Hehe, spent my whole life wishing I could get precious time back, makes me tend to "copy" the important stuff now :)
by Debra Beckham 5/12/2011 9:29:11 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus No, the link BELONGS here, listen man, i am getting tired of people critisizing every freaking thing here....ENOUGH..........Links like this need to be examined and people like you can tell us in A POLITE and novice comforting way , that this maybe wrong..........Think of the way you come across for once ...please !
    by Veenie 5/12/2011 9:30:01 PM

  • @Veenie AGREED. what link does belong here? Official links from Tepco? 'official' vs 'unofficial', let the reader decide what to glean from it.
    by Panserbjorne9 5/12/2011 9:32:05 PM

  • The local fog an concurrent steaming of each Unit is a good example that they'll probably always steam given ambient conditions for condensation since the fuel-pool water is warm.
    by Ian 5/12/2011 9:32:57 PM

  • @Veenie Once is OK, but that link has been reposted throughout the day. Is that really necessary? I apologize for being so «rude» all the time. The least we need here on this scribble is people posting all the joke they find on YouTube. I mean, take a look at the intro of the video. Isn't that clear enough? We commented the video the first time it arrived, that should have been enough. Ask Elaine to pin it if you wish.
by Pedro Jesus 5/12/2011 9:33:53 PM

  • @Veenie I totally get your point but also the guy who made that video is purposely trying to scare the crap out of people and was misrepresenting what he found for maximum effect. I think there is a direct link to that folder on their web site. Why not email them nicely and ask what the model is really about. They want to inform people I would guess they would gladly explain what it is really about.
    by lillymunster 5/12/2011 9:34:29 PM

  • Yes, they will probably always steam, but *that is not normal*. steam emissions like this, exposed to air, in this quantity, with these levels of radiation- not normal. Smoke or steam, these buildings are venting to air.
    by Panserbjorne9 5/12/2011 9:34:52 PM

  • I don't think Veenie was here this morning so she likely didn't know what went down this morning
    by lillymunster 5/12/2011 9:35:11 PM

  • @Veenie : the nilo / zardoz thing is a weather agency that analyses / forecasts fallout of fuku. you can look at their pictures but there is nothing horrifying or suspicious. it is not a simulation and it is not secret. some pictures look ugly but it is due to the low scale. i do not live in u.s., so i can chill out, maybe i would be worried otherways.
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:35:30 PM

  • i mean, the nilo link is okay here, but this video is really silly.
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:36:24 PM

  • Unit-1 reactor has gotta be melting down : www.youtube.com
    by Ian 5/12/2011 9:36:32 PM

  • Here's another reference to censored forecasting www.youtube.com
    by Panserbjorne9 5/12/2011 9:38:19 PM

  • @Debra Beckham : i used to "save" a lot of stuff, too. but after a few hd crashs i gave it up. ;)
    by Edano 5/12/2011 9:38:22 PM

  • @Edano lol
by Debra Beckham 5/12/2011 9:39:31 PM

  • and yes, i'm well aware that Higgins is an extreme guy. it goes without saying.
    by Panserbjorne9 5/12/2011 9:39:36 PM

  • Point is, please practice common curtesy when apparent previous post's show up or we all stand to loose post's that are breaking out of fear that we get crucified...peace
