  • And if this argument you give is what's needed to prove criticality, why is the case for Chernobyl being a nuclear not like this argument, but based only on zenon-isotope ratios? www.springerlink.com I'm not saying it's not, I just want to understand.

  • @elainekirk I disagree with you about Busby, what kind of fear and panic is he spreading, he is telling the truth.
    by Bobby1 5/18/2011 5:03:54 PM

  • @Ian www.nrl.moh.govt.nz pp. 36-37. The ratios resemble those of a Chinese nuclear test on Nov. 17, 1976.
    by Bobby1 5/18/2011 5:05:19 PM

  • @elainekirk - fear and panic is scarier to you than corporations and governments covering up the truth eh.?
    by Lethbridgean 5/18/2011 5:05:19 PM

  • @elainekirk: Busby had fame enough before Fukushima accident. :)

    by elainekirk 5/18/2011 5:09:21 PM

  • Based on what I see here, en.wikipedia.org not sure how much credence I would put in claims by Busby. It sounds like he's been refuted multiple times, essentially that he tends to come up with theories exaggerating what is found in reality. Generally, a "fringe" type. Might be right on some things, but there's a credibility hill to climb.

  • Busby is a respected scientist, and I am glad he has stood up against the nuclear sociopaths.
    by Bobby1 5/18/2011 5:14:19 PM

  • @Bobby1, but just looking at the spread of radionuclides and that they're similar of a nuclear wasn't the methodology used to test the theory that Chernobyl involved a a nuclear explosion. You said the other day "very high concentrations of Xe-133 detected support this theory," but it's not a matter of lot's a x133, but the ratio of x133 & x133m.
    by Ian 5/18/2011 5:14:19 PM

  • Panserbjorne9, unfortunately you are right. If one chooses to be melodramatic, that is their own choice. If they come up with theories that seem to be off by several orders of magnitude compared to empirical reality, their opinions are rightfully devalued. "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" is one term for such people.
    by Markfm 5/18/2011 5:15:09 PM

  • @Ian Yes, the Chernobyl study used a different ratio. The large amount (unmeasurable) of Xe-133 supports the Tc-99m etc. analysis.
    by Bobby1 5/18/2011 5:16:53 PM

  • Unmeasurable? Large amounts tend to be readily measurable.
    by Markfm 5/18/2011 5:17:44 PM

  • @Markfm and another unfortunate truth is that those with actual potentially dangerous agendas will use such melodrama-types as a 'screen'- let those types of headlines run amok to instill a disinterest that then distracts from the truth.

    by Markfm 5/18/2011 5:28:33 PM

  • @Ian On recriticality, It is possible, but I doubt it. The levels at SPF#4 never indicated fuel damage and the pictures don't show sig damage to racks or fuel, hence no criticality. As far as #2 goes, I don't understand the ratio thoughts enough to fully understand, but it seems to me the I and Cs could certainly be released from the RPV in different rates as a result of their physical form.
