    by Lethbridgean 5/19/2011 2:20:29 AM

  • Did I mention that with these new digital cable boxes "they" can even put Canadian and local commercials in place of American ones even if I am watching KTLA. I just aboot shi*
    when I saw that.
    by Lethbridgean 5/19/2011 2:23:49 AM

  • Looking at live cam you can see bright white flickering from a few locations within 4. It's smoking a lot today!
    by LM 5/19/2011 2:28:52 AM

  • Does anybody know what the SFP numbers look like today?
    by LM 5/19/2011 2:29:42 AM

  • @Lethbridgean we get all sorts of commercial oddity on our digital boxes. Local commercials inserted, commercials for businesses that have no presence in the region etc.

  • back .. hello to all
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:36:51 AM

  • hi dean!
    by Nancy 5/19/2011 2:37:11 AM

  • hi Nancy... the more I hear about what TEPCO didn't do that could have been done after the EQ the more I lean to that early melt
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:40:02 AM

  • Hi Dean! @all Watching CNBC special on Fukushima..they just made the point that this is the first release of plutonium in the guise of MOX fuel. I want to know why the EPA wasn't testing for plutonium particulates!
    by LM 5/19/2011 2:40:09 AM

  • @dean more intervention or lack of?
    by Nancy 5/19/2011 2:40:36 AM

  • intervention
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:40:59 AM

  • Collection of TeppyCam photos just before and during the meltdowns. Interesting that it shows the towers emitted a bit of steam on a few occasions www.youtube.com
    by Ian 5/19/2011 2:41:28 AM

  • @dean Lots more than the shut IC valve? :-) Did you see Edano's cool find? 3d models of Fukushima www.turbosquid.com Oh and TBS now has two camera, they added one down by the coast to the south.
    by Nancy 5/19/2011 2:42:37 AM

  • LM I think EPA and other agencies sampled for all of that.. it just didn't get out
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:42:57 AM

  • @Dean I know...I'm just so pissed! The people of Japan will pay the price...just not fair.
    by LM 5/19/2011 2:44:02 AM

  • @Nancy,,, Edano is a gold mine a true champion for this group.. NEVER LEAVE EDANO.. you get the medal of honor..

  • Nuclear cleanup workers being recruited from society's lowest rungs www.japantoday.com
    by Panserbjorne9 5/19/2011 2:45:33 AM

  • it's amazing how the tendency for governments and companies to spare telling the public about what's happening especially when it affects them.. then things come out in the end anyway ,,,
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:45:38 AM

  • @LM EPA did some plutonium testing, it was in their database but they didn't put it in the public radnet reports. I don't know if it is the right kind of plutonium to be from Japan and IIRC most of it was found in Cali in an area that had a number of military issues and a reactor that went bad in the 60's
    by Nancy 5/19/2011 2:45:51 AM

  • @All, I got tired of the lack of data from the EPA, I bought my own geiger counter. Just got it yesterday, it shipped from Ukraine. Got to love ebay! I am in Oregon so I figure better safe than sorry.
    by Lurking 5/19/2011 2:47:27 AM

  • any data for us Lurking?
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:48:12 AM

  • @Nancy Thx for that. I must admit I believe we're being kept in the dark.
    by LM 5/19/2011 2:48:43 AM

  • Panserbjorne,, it just goes to show you the worth of people in Japan to me.. expendables
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:49:04 AM

  • Nancy.. and @all... my question as a poll.. everyone type after I ask .... how did #4 unit explosion occur... ok ready.. 1, 2 , 3 text..
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:49:50 AM

  • @Dean - 2 sets of readings today. I do 3 readings then average the result. Outside average is .09, inside is .0866. I'm in Southern Oregon, about 30 miles above the California border.
    by Lurking 5/19/2011 2:50:12 AM

  • does your unit have ranges?
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:50:44 AM

  • so you can discriminate against background
    by dean 5/19/2011 2:50:55 AM

  • @Dean - the manual is in Russian, and I am a typical american girl so I only speak one language, ours. I do have another person close by that I check against and our readings are about the same.
    by Lurking 5/19/2011 2:52:33 AM

  • My take on #4. TEPCO claims hydrogen leaked from 3 into #4 at all levels. I think that would likely be right. Why it didn't chain react when 3 blew, not sure. The SFP had to have been building hydrogen also looking at the extent of blow out damage around the SFP. The unknown factors of the work ongoing and statements that there were likely welding tanks and possibly a big vat of some sort of petroleum solvent likely added to the blast or repeat fires. I think some of the structural concerns come from the hydrogen being in those lower levels.
    by Nancy 5/19/2011 2:53:05 AM

  • @Dean and @All, one of the guys in the forum I participate in made a site today for those of us with geigers to share the readings. About 6 of us have geigers now. The readings are scattered about the country if you are interested. radiationreadings.tumblr.com
    by Lurking 5/19/2011 2:56:25 AM

  • Good points Nancy, anyone ever get a video of 4 exploding? I don't remember one, it's like oh by the way unit 4 blew up, "if" Japan went by fire safety codes I can't help but think the seals for any penetrations, wire chases, piping etc would have been sealed tight on both ends so,, how what's the mechanism and driver to get the H2 through to unit 4? I do wonder "when" 3 blew up the blast wave may have been the mechanism to drive H2 there... I'm not convinced to say just because they showed a cam in unit 4 SFP means that it's in pristine condition..
