  • markfm,,, I know and have talked to the man in that link.. my times differ but we haven't discussed them.. my melt times are faster,,, our initial assumptions are different...

  • nancy has posted my write up on the web.. and people have commented already
    by dean 5/23/2011 2:59:12 PM

  • No surprise, Dean -- assumptions vary things a bit, but it sounds like all roads lead to meltdown.
    by Markfm 5/23/2011 3:00:29 PM

  • @Shadow @UKVal I agree about the float...and with ongoing trench leaks they won't have to publicly admit to intentional dumping...It was an accident..soorry.

  • Work to reinforce No.4 reactor building begins www3.nhk.or.jp "...building a new concrete structure under the pool to prevent its bottom from falling out. 30 steel columns will be set up on the second floor of the building to support the new structure."
    by Markfm 5/23/2011 3:00:59 PM

  • @UKVal what says it's unstable? www.world-nuclear-news.org It should float low in the water and i would think is stable. The thing at issue is that it only holds about 10,000 tons and they now have over 100,000 tons to deal with.
    by RBeaner 5/23/2011 3:01:43 PM

  • Contaminated water removal to be suspended soon www3.nhk.or.jp (another take on the running out of room tale)

  • I sent my report to FAIRWINDS.. and am interested to see if Arnie derives anything from it.. I have not received email back from them yet
    by dean 5/23/2011 3:03:19 PM

  • @Dean That was a great idea. Have you seen the new video? he talks about safety issues, venting and the fact that the earthquake did damage before the tsunami.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:05:17 PM

  • not yet LM

  • @LM There is no FACT that the earthquake did damage before the tsunami. It is entirely possible, but Just My Own Very Humble Opinion.... We are getting WAY too loose on this particular board with our adoption of facts.
    by RBeaner 5/23/2011 3:07:33 PM

  • @deb Ditto
    by Shadow 5/23/2011 3:08:11 PM

  • Off to work.Take care all.

  • be safe shadow
    by dean 5/23/2011 3:20:38 PM

  • @RBeaner Let's not quibble...You can't say there wasn't any damage before the quake and there is ample evidence that there was. I won't argue...The facts will come out.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:20:48 PM

  • off to work.. be back in awhile ..
    by dean 5/23/2011 3:25:28 PM

  • Bye Dean.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:26:01 PM

  • Not positive, but I believe people had earlier been wondering about was-there-or-wasn't-there SFP 4 damage. TEPCO confirms damage to part of No. 4 unit's spent nuke fuel english.kyodonews.jp
    by Markfm 5/23/2011 3:26:10 PM

  • @LM I don't wish to quibble, I "think" there was some amount of damage from the quake. I haven't seen "ample evidence that there was" , I hope the evidence comes out sooner. I would like to see TEPCO's 100 page or 2000 page document in its entirety. I appologize for using your post as my target, but the word FACT just irritated me. Sorry, no quibble:)

by Maureen Burke 5/23/2011 3:29:08 PM

  • @RBeaner It was Arnie's fact...I just tend to agree with him on that...but I'm no expert nor claim to be. He's the one with the cred.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:29:36 PM

  • Not certain about what was damaged when (other than that TEPCO acknowledges manual intervention turning off the cooling system), but one data point: www.bloomberg.com "A monitoring post on the perimeter of the plant about 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) from the No. 1 reactor went off at 3:29 p.m., minutes before the station was overwhelmed by the tsunami ... “We are still investigating whether the monitoring post was working properly,” said Teruaki Kobayashi, the company’s head of nuclear facility management. “There is a possibility that radiation leaked before the tsunami arrived.”" Not a wealth of information, just one data point, under investigation.
    by Markfm 5/23/2011 3:30:18 PM

  • @LM Arnie's assesment, and generally I concur with him... just don't like the word fact until some independent, other method is used to confirm. Like I said, I expect the earthquake caused damage
    by RBeaner 5/23/2011 3:33:06 PM

  • @RBeaner No arguments..I used the wrong word...sorry.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:34:07 PM

  • @RBeaner You might be waiting a long time for facts from Tepco, the convicted data falsifiers. When is an independent team going to be allowed in? There was supposed to be one there already, by law, but they were not allowed in.
    by Bobby1 5/23/2011 3:34:53 PM

  • The road to establishing theories as facts requires ongoing investigation and discussion of the information discovered. The media will not hand us everything on a silver platter.
    by Nancy 5/23/2011 3:36:14 PM

  • @Bobby1 more info will come out (100 and 2000 page data document) and and falsifications can be detected and argued. I just want the data!
    by RBeaner 5/23/2011 3:36:27 PM

  • Anybody looking at cam? Orange spot at 3 just to right of stack. Look like flames to me.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:37:00 PM

  • @markfm ty for the SPF4 post below. I also found info in World Nuclear organization analysis of damages.

  • No and now the smoke coming from 4 is blackish.
by Maureen Burke 5/23/2011 3:39:00 PM

  • A little orange visible at 4 at the base of smoke column.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:41:08 PM

  • Smoke Is coming from orange area on 3 as well..just harder to see because of missing structure and black background.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:42:54 PM

  • I see the orange at 3. Can't get a good screen capture.
    by Nancy 5/23/2011 3:44:23 PM

  • Orange at 3 moves like flames. It changes size shape and direction as flames will do. Same with spot at 4 -
    by ch 5/23/2011 3:45:59 PM

  • Ha! I got one! Posted here in a few.
    by Nancy 5/23/2011 3:46:18 PM

  • @Nancy I noticed flames last night as well..It looks like they're knocking them down before daybreak..and claiming nothing happened.
    by LM 5/23/2011 3:46:38 PM

  • @ch I agree. @Nancy Cool!
