  • @elainekirk Something new other than the one you gave me this morning? The fence in the IAEA pic the only thing I can guess is still too radioactive there.

  • @val I am being careful my ram is not healthy it recovered a lot when I cleared some stuff from start up but need get it all tidied so streaming is out though I do go peek :)

  • @nanncy no sorry just this mornings but I am still searching so dont despair :)
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 12:20:14 AM

  • Here in Japan feeling so much better after seeing a BBC world news report about Fukushima on Japanese TV. The BBC report said some just some damage to fuel is suspected in the reactors, water has essentially stopped leaking and the worst is now all over. Oh yes, and the report (without any analysis) just repeated the IAEA's statement that the response of the GoJ to Fukushima was good. So that's alright then. No wonder friends and family back in the UK say there is nothing really going on at Fukushima. Just gald I am not having to suffer the further insult of having to pay a TV licence to support the BBC.

    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 12:21:36 AM

  • @Will Hi ty for that. I'm seriously thinking of witholding my TV licence as a protest about their coverage.
    by UKVal 6/2/2011 12:21:56 AM

  • @Will - yes we thought tanuki after looking at pics
    by UKVal 6/2/2011 12:22:25 AM

  • @will I detest the bbc they are the lowest of the low and the sooner Scotland boots them out the better. But I do feel very sad that their misleading reports are causing such hurt
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 12:23:57 AM

"We haven't believed the government from the start," Watanabe says. "When the explosion happened, they didn't say anything about it being dangerous. We don't trust the media either, since the nuclear plant operator sponsors many newspapers and television stations."

  • @angie we need to see if the pins can go elsewhere because you can't watch the thread and the mod list at the same time
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 12:29:39 AM

  • @elainekirk I min the pins................then I can see mod..........I dont need to see the pin lol
    How do you do that?
by Angie edited by elainekirk 6/2/2011 12:31:06 AM

  • @reed it is really bad they need to tell the people so everyone can work together for the best outcome
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 12:31:08 AM

  • Hit the minimise button.........you can then hit the "show stuck posts" when you have to pin something! Just above the text box....
    by Angie 6/2/2011 12:32:55 AM

  • OMG 3 months I have sat here trying to watch mod queue at top right whist watching conversation halfway down page and all that time I could have just minimized the pins!!!

  • When a fact-finding mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency landed in the tsunami-battered Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex last Friday, they thought they knew about the situation there. What they discovered was devastation beyond their imagination.

    by Lethbridgean 6/2/2011 1:17:50 AM

  • From the WSJ article: "What they heard was that on March 11, after the magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami blacked out the entire complex, workers had to feel their way in the pitch-black building to vent reactors to prevent them from exploding. They had no idea whether radiation was leaking around them, because all instruments and gauges were out of commission"
    Holy crap!
    by Nancy 6/2/2011 1:21:07 AM

  • @Nancy - Guess the flashlights got washed away with the dosimeters in the tsunami.
    by Lethbridgean 6/2/2011 1:22:55 AM

  • I have a flashlight at my breakers and in my car
, unbelievable if such simple things are not available at a NPP
    by WolfDK 6/2/2011 1:23:28 AM

  • Hermetically sealed flashlights couldn't be aquired by the disaster management team. To busy trying to figure out their fax-machine controls in the dark I presume.
