  • @mark regarding the tanks, sounds much simpler than it really is... We are talking about massive amounts of water (japan tonnee is larger than US ton)
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:11:40 AM

  • @fitter I'm a person who reads this group on a phone so even though a reader since R- I've rarely posted. I've observed what you mean, but I think for many at this point, or at least me--I didn't start out anti-Tepco, I just learned enough to end up feeling that way. Not, from my point of view, bias, just hard reality. I would make a strong differentiation between Tepco management and board and Tepco engineers and staff and workers and all those who have been on the scene working on this problem under great hardships and great danger. I'm very sure that no anti-Tepco feeling has ever been directed against the latter group, but I do think it's defensible to have reached a conclusion that Tepco corporate is responsible for the magnitude of this disaster, if not the origin, which I have come to believe. They built it in a bad place, they knew it, they didn't take the necessary safety measures to protect it or to cope with any emergencies that might come. And they have often been shown to have been untruthful at a corporate and regulatory interface level. I would never want any opinions to be disregarded, but being anti-Tepco at this point seems to me unavoidable. I speak only for myself. Mods, feel free to delete me if seen as too confrontational, because I don't mean to be.

  • They just need to understand the whole S.T.A.R thing. They dont care about drywell temps. I do. They dont.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:12:39 AM

  • Sorry. No more ranting.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:15:24 AM

  • @cannonball left in the hands of locals the outlook would be brighter they would fetch in the right kind of help and the workers know the site etc .
Without the international company whose business interests are diverse enough to enable them to walk away from this then I would be optimistic
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 10:15:43 AM

  • they have experience of TMI and chernobyl.. so we can say that similar things have happened before. they have to multiply them by three ..at least
    by trh 6/2/2011 10:15:44 AM

  • @AustralianCannonball If you mean me, you don't offend me... I would not have made the same discisson, @mark just seen your post regarding begining and now..... I felt the same way, but then started to do reshearch away from the borad (not just this one) the positive information will be deleted, and the lack of "true" experience in this working enviroment is not discussed... as the post by TRH (not calling you out) but no they are not simiar and the ansewers for japan do not over lap with those two accidents... from and engineering paramater
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:18:00 AM

  • @fitter Yes, I understand it's a massive amount of water, that's my point. A terrible massive amount, but there it is. We don't have any choice, something has to be done with it. Someone suggested a while ago an empty oil tanker and that seems like creative thinking to me. But I'm sure there are better ideas out there. Big job, still needs to be done. Therefore have to figure some way to do it.
    by Mart 6/2/2011 10:18:40 AM

  • @Mart there was rumors about russian floating purification plant.. has it arrived? or was that idea rejected by GoJ
    by trh 6/2/2011 10:21:49 AM

  • @fitter They sent 900000 people through Chernobyl. I'm sure you know that anyway.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:22:10 AM

  • @fitter now they are using robots to some degree.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:22:32 AM

  • @Mart question: (Please answer this is only a discussion and no answer or question is wrong) If a tanker would work, I supect they would have gone or may be "planing" that... but I can also think of many BAD things that could happen, then every one would be on TEPCO for doiind that! I'n my opionion we are past of the cause that TEPCO is not releasing information and "we really do not know what they are doing .... they have over 1000 engineer working on it and I am pretty sure they arn't just "whistling Dixie" .... it take years to design these things, test then build (that what I do).(not nuclear) so what can TEPCO "really do that is possible, that would make any one happy!! every thing they do comes back with a comment!
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:25:53 AM

  • @trh I'm more concerned about Japan but people I believe in all countries should be concerned. The flow of information has been controlled to the point why would anyone care?
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:26:37 AM

  • @AustralianCannonball Yes well versed on chernobly, one: not the same two: it was not in the first months 3: Look at the "trouble that has got them into... you can read it here! so if you were the person to make that discussion, would you do it.... put those people in a early graved?
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:28:23 AM

  • @AustralianCannonball yes know that also, robots can only do so much and no one seems happy with what they have done..
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:30:08 AM

  • @fitter No. Thats why I know they wont do it. They have the technology 25 years on and the history records of what happened to the liquidators.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:30:25 AM

  • @fitter I have been anti-tepco only because I rely on info. Also I have been anti-government because they tell us nothing.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:31:26 AM

  • @cannonball so true, there must be concern amongst governments and scientists but nobody will stand up and demand tepco are removed from power. There are calls for Kan to resign but thatwont alter tepco's position as dictators
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 10:31:50 AM

  • Kan is not as dishonest as people believe. He exposed something once before he was PM. I just think the pressure has been on him. I bet any replacement will be worse!. I do feel some anger towards TEPCO and the IAEA. Main Sream Media for insulting my intelligence!
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:34:03 AM

  • But Kan should lead which he has strugled with so probably must go.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:34:46 AM

  • @AustralianCannonball niether would I so they are being responsible by not doing that... to put just a respirater on a worker they must send him through medical screening and training, it takes time (we do this) then the guys (not us) don't follow the rule anyway... I suspect that the employees that have ingested radation.. did not follow what they were told.... so sometimes its not the company and sometimes its just the situtation.
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:34:57 AM

  • TEPCO is not all bad. But history will not be kind to them. That I guarantee.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:36:30 AM

  • @AustralianCannonball well said and I agree that the Media and now the web is the main reason we get less information.... as far as TEPCO what was know or not will come out down the road...
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:37:27 AM

  • The responsibility for being honest is on the person or corporation who has been show not to have been honest in the past. To say that those who were disillusioned when Tepco's lack of honesty became known are therefore responsible for their being even more dishonest is sort of a problem for me. If Tepco had been more trustworthy I wouldn't now trust them, which I did at the beginning and don't know. With reason. No amount of generalized public relations for nuclear power or for engineers is going to change people's feelings about how Tepco has been proven to have acted--deceptively. And again, I am speaking of the corporate and board level, upper management, not the working stiffs who are stuck with the clean up and the danger. I also haven't seen any thought control on this board--it seems to be very open and have a lot of diversity that comes and goes and respects information, though not perhaps generalized public relations not consistent with the facts as they are known. I've seen people here change their minds over and over as they get new information, run up blind alleys, change direction, as they try to observe and prove and source. Your mileage may vary and I will think on what you've said. I'm going to bed.
    by Mart 6/2/2011 10:38:37 AM

  • if it won't make the news headlines then people will forget it rather quickly. from here Japan is so far away..
    by trh 6/2/2011 10:38:44 AM

  • Sorry, thumb fingered and too late, but you get the jist.
    by Mart 6/2/2011 10:39:42 AM

  • @Mart @Mart before you go
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:40:03 AM

  • @mart sleep well thank you for starting this
    by elainekirk 6/2/2011 10:43:00 AM

  • @Mart Part of the reason you do not see the thought control is "it will be deleted" I have seen many such things deleted or stuck in mod...or the heckaling group runs then off... and the people just leave.. go back in the thread.... were did all the tech's go ? and why? we had wuite a few...
    by fitter 6/2/2011 10:43:31 AM

  • @fitter Well I will tell you now That i have been a mod since the "night that shall not be spoken of" And I have never ever deleted any techi posts or not let people out of mod! And I am on here bar 6-8hrs while I am asleep!
@fitter I second what angie says but I do have to go out at times everybody is responsible for the way conversations pan out if somebody is trying to spoil it just do not feed them starve them out

  • @elainekirk @all If any of you feel like sending an email to luke_anthony_short@yahoo.com.au please do. I promise I will present any theories as theories. Try and be balanced. Also I can mention you as a source only if you request. Its only youtube but everything makes a difference. People are sending me questions since I started blogging and I dont have the working experience to answer them. I just want to make something of quality. Maybe youtube will give me 5 cents oneday(I heard that!) - But seriously I just want to compile ideas and educate. I get about an hour a day to actually do any research!. Luckily I have studied Chernoby so much of it I get quickly.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/2/2011 10:47:44 AM

  • on techi side.. has somebody done satellite images comparison.. to see possible shift in buildings locations before the big one and now. or is it even possible.. someone here was very good with images..
