  • hmmm no reports on that ? strange.
    by Edano 6/7/2011 12:48:00 PM

  • @lillymunster I'm thinking they might have pulled a fast one on us. I was watching the left hand, while the right may have dragged 10,000 tons of relatively low level water out to sea for dump beyond the 12 mile limit.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 12:48:30 PM

  • i have something in my had, that it was reported that the megafloat turned out to be not able to hold water and they stopped the plans, but i could be wrong. or the tank is not the megafloat.
    by Edano 6/7/2011 12:49:38 PM

  • megafloat aRRIVED MAY 21 www.houseofjapan.com and no official word since.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 12:50:32 PM

  • "we regret deeply that the megafloat sank due to high waves." [ironic]
    by Edano 6/7/2011 12:51:43 PM

  • @Edano he he he, jokes on us all!
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 12:53:38 PM

  • Regarding Areva's water decontamination system, the primary radioactivity removal phase will not be filtration, it will be chemical absorption into a "sludge". Then the resultant water will run through filters for further remediation. Interesting, something I've never seen before.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 12:56:53 PM

  • @Edano Do you have available to you SFP temps for all 7 SFP's?
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 12:58:26 PM

  • "TEPCO will also strengthen ropes mooring a megafloat on which the firm plans to store contaminated water." www.yomiuri.co.jp (May. 30, 2011)
    by Edano 6/7/2011 12:58:29 PM

  • @RBeaner no
    by Edano 6/7/2011 12:58:49 PM

  • @Edano yeah, I don't think they have actually transferred water to the megafloat yet, I don't know why either.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:00:00 PM

  • well, i think i have read about it leaking, so maybe they suspended it.
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:00:53 PM

  • @Edano Why not, You are the data guru!.. LOL I must assume that means TEPCO is not releasing pool data for some reason.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:01:40 PM

  • @Edano The megafloat spen ~3 weeks being refitted prior to going to Daiichi. Wonder if they found problems that couldn't be resolved.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:02:48 PM

  • @RBeaner : i only watch the data sheets, the sfp are not in there. :( if they provide that sfp data in a similar csv or any format, i am willing to include it, but not if i have to search for it everyday. especially pdf is impossible to read automatically.
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:05:04 PM

  • (i do not plot by hand, i made a proggie)
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:05:55 PM

  • The only place I have seen the SFP temps is in the daily PDF docs
    by lillymunster 6/7/2011 1:06:11 PM

  • @lillymunster Can you link me to the most recent you have avail. TY
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:10:44 PM

  • @Edano Do they have the show "Bones" over there in Germany?
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:12:29 PM

  • @RBeaner : is that with the bone girl (dr temperance brannon) and the fed ?
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:13:59 PM

  • i love tempi
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:14:41 PM

  • @Edano Yeah. I just want to say you are no longer the King of the lab, 'cause you can't give me 7 pool temps. LOL
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:15:29 PM

  • www.iol.co.za Mega-Float, a huge steel floating structure to store contaminated water from the tsunami-crippled Daiichi nuclear power plant, arrives at the quay of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Photo: Reuters arrival May 21 2011 at 10:14am
by Edano edited by Edano 6/7/2011 1:16:09 PM

  • @Edano But what has it done since May 21, Nothing? It is still a big huge tank, can they not use it?
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:17:31 PM

  • @all I just realize that Japan have be exporting radiative water all over the world in the theyer cargo ships. In the ballast tanks. Any ship living Japan that has light wait cargo, carry ballast water. Sorry difficult to write... en.wikipedia.org
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:18:42 PM

  • @Majj Ballast is usually carried around, they offload ballast when they pick up a heavy shipment. They don't generally Onload for a light shipment because they already have ballasted. Still might be an issue, but probably not as big as an initial thought.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:22:19 PM

  • It would be good to try keep a track to all the larger boats that dock at the plant. It would be super easy to fill them up of contaminated water and then throw it Offshore
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:22:46 PM

  • ha, i got it showing !

by Edano via Iol.co.za edited by Edano 6/7/2011 1:24:59 PM

  • @RBeaner Just a example : The ship arrives in Tokyo , full of Brazilian Minerals. He can not travel back to Brazil empty, they fill up the ballast thanks whiff SEA WATER. This apply far cal Granel and Petrol ships....
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:25:12 PM

  • Hokkaido radiation map maps.google.co.jp Now running 2x-3x background, here is a map of background radiation in Japan www.gsj.jp
    by Bobby1 6/7/2011 1:26:06 PM

  • Majj, good point. Are there major ports along that north/central coast area?
    by lillymunster 6/7/2011 1:26:12 PM

  • In US, there are strict prohibitions on diluting radioactive material or liquid to the point that it is below the limits for release. The Gov will get you for it (i Hope). But I don't know about other countries rules and regs.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:26:55 PM

  • Just have a look in this link. If dont open Japan port ,just operate the map like googles earth marinetraffic.com
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:27:12 PM

  • @RBeaner I have be in Quarantine in Nw Autralia because I have dock before in Cairn,Ne coast. ballast water is a serious meter. I will stud deeper and come back whiff some numbers...
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:28:53 PM

  • @RBeaner : depending on who does it .....
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:29:42 PM

  • Working on a spreadsheet of all the MOX shipped to Japan, trying to initially determine total assemblies at FUKU. There is a lot of unused MOX fuel sitting around in Japan.
    by lillymunster 6/7/2011 1:29:54 PM

  • @Edano exactly to the point :-)
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:32:22 PM

  • @Majj Dang, We are just so interconnected now. It takes , what, three days for a ship to get from Japan to the US west coast?... We are all in this crap together.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:32:40 PM

  • at least i know in germany every ship from japan gets measured and they have sent some (at least one i know) back.
    by Edano 6/7/2011 1:34:33 PM

  • @Edano They measure deck, cargo compartments , the cargo , etc.. I never see the word Ballasts Thanks no where. Its a sealed party of the ship. No one ever go there. A forgotten place.
    by Majj 6/7/2011 1:38:42 PM

  • @Edano Does your country currently have "nuclear Emergency" radiation and radioactivity levels in effect? For import I mean.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:39:17 PM

  • by Majj 6/7/2011 1:39:40 PM

  • sorry try again upload.wikimedia.org

    by Majj via Upload.wikimedia.org 6/7/2011 1:40:35 PM

  • @Majj Very6 interesting method of dispersal. I retract my earlier post saying they came in with ballast, kind of short sighted on my part.
    by RBeaner 6/7/2011 1:42:10 PM

  • But my main point here is the ships doking in Fukushima. Are there ships docking there?? many? what is the reason from them to dock there ?
