  • @Peter Melzer kurion patents ? www.electrometals.com.au www.docstoc.com
by Edano edited by Edano 6/18/2011 3:33:46 PM

  • @bo Well said and I agree. But the distress here does not come from activism, or trying to move and immovable object. It's how to live day-to-day without getting sick. I ate some imported Chinese seafood spring rolls last night, 3 hours later my thyroid started acting up. Chinese waters are now contaminated. This is what is stressful.

    by dean 6/18/2011 3:36:48 PM

  • @Bobby1 that is of course true. We all face that living in a toxic and contaminated world. But the toxins and contaminations we face are not solely physical.
    by bo 6/18/2011 3:42:47 PM

  • I think many people are here for many reasons, protection of self is just one of them.
    by bo 6/18/2011 3:49:39 PM

  • @Edano, Peter Melzer there appears to be another firm named Kurion, it is in England and it looks like it is not connected to the Fukushima Kurion www.kurion.co.uk
I mention it because one of those patents is theirs.
Furthermore I wasted time Googling mr Raymont - did a search within a timeframe of 1970-1990 in which he appeared zero times. After 1990 he surfaces.
    by nls 6/18/2011 3:49:58 PM

  • Hi all....Just looked at cams... Major steam. The last big event was 2 nights ago. I don't believe there's a direct correlation to watering. I also saw a crane up against #1 during the day yesterday. I do believe that the SFPs are so hot that when there is fog or rain or both the cooler air is creating the perfect conditions for the steaming.
    by LM 6/18/2011 3:50:06 PM

  • @bo The thing I am most appalled at is the silence of academia on this issue, especially (with a few exceptions) the medical establishment. The report I did was simple and could have been done by any one of 1000 scientists, each of whom has more resources than I do. What are they doing?
    by Bobby1 6/18/2011 3:50:09 PM

  • @Bo. Nicely said and welcomed Doris Lessing reference. Her Children of Violence series allowed the reader to feel just how long change can take. Her writing helped to shape my frame of young mind. @Bo, i am here because of the impact of a 1973 visit to the Peace Park in Hiroshima. From my personal experience, I can only imagine that your work will have a great impact on future generations. Thank you Bo for all you do.
by Mid Valley 6/18/2011 3:50:25 PM

  • @Mid Valley ty. And @Bobby1 there may well be lots that academics are doing. For most academics it is as hard to get information out into the "real world" as it is for us. I'm sure many people are doing what they can, but being an academic is no guarantee of reaching any audience outside of academia. Only academics read academic journals, and most academic books have an audience of less than 5,000.

  • 5.9 earthquake very close to Fuku 4 hrs ago. I do wonder whether the shaking contributes to the steam shows?! quakes.globalincidentmap.com

  • @bo I am off to bed in about 10mins.....2am....just check the mod next door every so often please. thank you! Elaine should be back soon, and lilly and mark should be around.

  • @bo It's good to see you out there getting the message out... what is so hard though about Professor so-and-so from University of so-and-so getting on TV and saying there is radiation spreading in the US and across the globe? Are they waiting for the review process? That could take months.
    by Bobby1 6/18/2011 3:59:57 PM

  • @Bobby1 they are waiting for any TV station to give them the time of day. TV stations have no interest in what professor so-and-so has to say.
    by bo 6/18/2011 4:02:11 PM

  • correction mr Raymont is non-existent in Google from 1970-1999
    by nls 6/18/2011 4:04:32 PM

  • @bo arXiv.org has 4 papers dealing with Fukushima. These are drafts and working papers. Four out of 682,000 e-prints.
    by Bobby1 6/18/2011 4:07:53 PM

  • @nls I'll have my research on Kurion ready along the week. Still tying some connections up. There is only one Kurion and the patents of the system present at Fukushima belong, in fact, to the one and only Kurion.
by Pedro Jesus 6/18/2011 4:08:41 PM

  • @nls i found a patent by Raymont from 1986: www.patent-de.com
    by Edano 6/18/2011 4:08:47 PM

  • for EnerTech
    by Edano 6/18/2011 4:09:01 PM

  • @nls : the same thing as us patent: www.patentbuddy.com
    by Edano 6/18/2011 4:12:01 PM

  • @Bobby1 , the answer may be twofold: first the establishment believes that the effect of the radiation from Fukushima on US public health will be negligibly small at present. Second, most biomedical researchers and the academic institutions they serve existentially depend on federal agency funding (read more here: brainmindinst.blogspot.com ). Doctors at medical schools are not the first ones who will speak out.
by Peter Melzer 6/18/2011 4:12:31 PM

  • @bo, if you know of Japanese media, blogs or other resources related to sustainable or alternative residential energy use, products, home design and such can you let me know? I may try to do a side project on those things in Japan and the US sort of a combined best ideas. I have found a few single articles in English version papers.
    by lillymunster 6/18/2011 4:13:53 PM

  • @lilly since I don't read Japanese I don't offhand. But I can ask friends who pay attention to this kind of thing and forward it on to you.
    by bo 6/18/2011 4:15:03 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus , glad you found the patent. I searched the U.S. Patent Office site appft.uspto.gov and could find anything!
by Peter Melzer 6/18/2011 4:15:14 PM

  • @Peter Melzer Yes, dependent on federal agencies for money. That should tell us something about the myth of independent and disinterested science.
    by Bobby1 6/18/2011 4:15:41 PM

  • @bo , what grass roots organization does Kan hail from?
by Peter Melzer 6/18/2011 4:15:57 PM

  • @Peter Melzer I don't know, never studied Japanese society. Again, I can ask a friend who knows these things much better than I and let you know on Monday.
    by bo 6/18/2011 4:16:48 PM

  • @Bobby1 , I read that the EPA does check overseas containers for signs of radioactivity and ships for the very important risk of contaminated ballast water that majji pointed out. The tests are rough shod, but they are continuously conducted as part of Homeland Security.

    by Edano 6/18/2011 4:25:57 PM

  • @Peter Melzer The ballast water has already caused jellyfish infiltration on the east coast, there are a lot of things in it beside radioactive substances that can be harmful, hopefully they keep doing it.
    by Bobby1 6/18/2011 4:26:08 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus ... The huble origins of Kurion Uk...

    www.freeindex.co.uk

Founded in 2006, the business is situated in Daventry. Their product is called a Rinse Pimp and it filters tap water producing pure water for rinsing cars and motorbikes to achieve a spot free shine without hand drying.

What does this tell about my social life.

  • Tepco cam...3 and 4 look frightening again...
    by LM 6/18/2011 4:39:13 PM

  • @Peter Melzer I'm not very acquainted with US patent law. What exactly does patent pending means?
by Pedro Jesus 6/18/2011 4:39:45 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus , that an application has been filed with the Office and is under review.
by Peter Melzer 6/18/2011 4:41:15 PM

  • @Bobby1 , I should add, that is why studies like yours are important. I hope they get a discussion going.
by Peter Melzer 6/18/2011 4:42:22 PM

  • @Peter Melzer So it must remain in secrecy until it is granted, right?
by Pedro Jesus 6/18/2011 4:42:35 PM

  • I'm out folks. See you all in the morning.
    by bo 6/18/2011 4:44:49 PM

  • Night Bo!
    by LM 6/18/2011 4:45:29 PM

  • @Pedro Jesus , as much as I know one should be able to see a the assigned id number, the title and a summary of the application. I could not find that.
by Peter Melzer 6/18/2011 4:45:41 PM

  • @Edano Great work on those graphs. They show so much, but pose some questions, too. The instrument failure explained a lot on #1, but what do you suppose took out the drywell sensors on 4/8?
    by radioguy 6/18/2011 4:49:44 PM

  • @Peter Melzer I'll keep searching. Every time I pick the research up I get more and more stuff to read. I'm at least about 30 hours of reading behind at the moment. And I haven't been into CIA's involvement yet, if there is any apart from a former Director having had joined the ranks of Lux Capital (who owns Kurion) only one month after the Fukushima-Daiichi accident.
