do you need any more cooper or? @Lilly
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 8:01:46 PM

@elainekirk lets hold on cooper until we determine for sure that it is close enough to FUKU to be a comparison. I have a bunch of photos for Dean to help figure out if it has a different containment system. Once we know that we can determine if Cooper is a close enough comparison or if we need to go after a different Mark 1 unit in the US for comparison. Some of the cooper stuff still matters as it is generic across the BWR units.
For the US comparison we should use one that has the concrete bulb containment vs. Outside concrete dome containment.

Cattle farm inspected for radiation-tainted beef
Fukushima prefectural officials have started an inspection of a cattle farm in Minami-Souma city. Radioactive cesium surpassing the government's safe limits was detected in cattle shipped from the farm.
1,530 to 3,200 becquerels of radioactive cesium per 1 kilogram was detected in 11 head of cattle carried to a meat processing firm in Tokyo.
Fukushima prefectural authorities asked the municipality to refrain from shipping beef cattle.

Nice pic of the connection.
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 9:00:15 PM

in the news article further down tepco blamed the durability of the parts but that looks durable the pic looks like whatever it is has eaten through the seals but I am no expert
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 9:15:57 PM

@elainekirk it is a plastic end on the hose. Someone mentioned PVC last night in the posts I saw about the machine not working. I wonder if that end failed due to not being metal?
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 9:17:59 PM

what does high radiation do to plastic?

Japan's current account surplus fell sharply in May, as the 11 March earthquake and tsunami continue to affect exports.

@elainekirk I'm only online because is it 99 degrees F outside with high humidity. Will probably see a few more pop by later.

The sharp decline followed by a report from Fukushima insects. Same from Chiba. Not even a mosquito few slugs. Nature is a symphony of collaboration and circulation. That all life support to coordinate all of the rings. Lives were radioactivity shreds ring. Microbial killing small animals the first large animal soon begins to kill humans

@smoss greeting hello
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 9:53:43 PM

@smoss Hi, was hoping you would stop by. I had a chance to read through the TEPCO documents tied to your paper. It seems pretty clear to me that TEPCO planned to increase their mox loads per that document.
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 9:54:19 PM

Have the article done on workers being forced to pay for food with no notice. Please pass this one on anywhere possible. It will take the media picking it up to get it changed.
wp.me by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:01:02 PM

@smoss Dean or RBeaner might be able to clarify the operating cycles. I wasn't able to understand that either. If we know what makes 1 operating cycle we can determine the rest. I will keep an eye out as I finish my MOX research for anything else mentioning the refueling process or these increasing percentage loads.

Fukushima beef did not seem to be inspected prior to shipment. Fukushima irresponsibility of producers and land to be shipped from a high radiation dose is just what's going on there. Should not investigate anything and vegetables. We need a boycott.
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:07:20 PM

@smoss That could be the original intended load date. The first load of MOX came in 1999, that 2000 as a load date is about the time frame they would have started up. I think Kashiwazaki was held up in court past that date so if it was a reload they would need a documented import shipment?
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:14:44 PM

@elainekirk figured it wouldn't take long for people to get upset about the contaminated beef ending up in the food supply. Now I wonder who and how it was "caught"
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:15:37 PM

@lillymunster I should imagine it was picke up in another countries import checks but as we can see from the bbc report I pposted below there is no fuku no radiation so they will notify through diplomatic channels and not tell the riff raff who just happen to be paying them
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:22:17 PM

@lillymunster look at teppy cam the haze that surrounds #1 well if you look at the side of #2 it is developing the haze it is coming in waves from the bottom
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:30:58 PM

@elainekirk I see that, faint but it is steam or smoke wafting up periodically.
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:33:20 PM

TbS cam is dark
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:35:36 PM

@lillymunster #2 has a hole in the suppression chamber if there are new cracks in basemen it will seep won't it?
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:39:33 PM

@Peter Melzer thankyou #
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:40:03 PM

@Peter Melzer if there is a fault (or 2) will that affect the subsidence ie #1 could move in a different way to #4 that is my theory but I not techi
by elainekirk 7/10/2011 10:41:39 PM

@Peter Melzer thanks!
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:45:21 PM

@elainekirk Since we only know what we can see on the cams anything is possible. IIRC both 1 and 2 have steam issues inside so a crack that now leads outside sure could leak steam. It seems sort of like unpressurized steam rather than smoke or something under force.

by dean 7/10/2011 10:50:40 PM

@dean yes, still around
by lillymunster 7/10/2011 10:54:13 PM

@Dean, before I forget. Link to images of Cooper. Hopefully we can determine containment system. We were going to use Cooper as our US vs. Fuku comparison. If Cooper's drastically different we can move on to another older BWR for research documents.
