The Fukushima worker's tweets: "We've learned FROM THE NEWS that TEPCO/gov aims to finish the cooling system for R1 spent fuel pool...
(cont) "during August. Almost always we learn deadlines from news, not from TEPCO!! TEPCO doesn't care how things are going here, on site
(cont) "Citizens read the news, get reassured, and we workers feel pressure to make the announced deadline no matter what.
(cont) "I don't think R1 is safe enough to work inside (high radiation). If TEPCO pushes us to do it, we will/have to, but it will reduce ..
(cont) "the number of workable workers in terms of radiation exposure limit. There are other reactors we need to work on, remember?"

  • why tepco after the falsifying records inquiry in '02 again in '06 and kk plant and the quake in 07 and fuku plant in '11
why are they still running the show?
most of the worlds uranium reserves are prepurchased now, owned whilst still unmined and the base of the biggest stakeholder is in Japan
Anybody know what tepco(or a subsidiary) holding in uranium is ?
It would no doubt twist the arm of others if the 'baddie' was in possesion of something they needed

    by lillymunster 7/14/2011 12:44:42 AM

  • Morning Bo. @Lilly You wouldn't happen to know if all chlorine filters for the shower are zeolite? We have them on all our showers because the water here in CA is awful.
    by LM 7/14/2011 12:45:03 AM

  • @elainekirk I need to go into business. Fashion radiation detectors and zeolite house water filters. :-)
    by lillymunster 7/14/2011 12:45:16 AM

  • @LM I am not sure. Some say specifically zeolite, others don't. If you know the brand you should be able to back track to a website that sells them and might have details.

    by lillymunster 7/14/2011 12:48:53 AM

  • @lillymunster I'm not sure about the administrative procedures at Japanese universities, even though I work at one! But I'm sure public outrage could provoke whoever could fire them to take action.

  • Kan wants to phase out N-power / 'Accidents cannot be prevented' [14 July, 2011]: www.yomiuri.co.jp
"Prime Minister Naoto Kan announced Wednesday evening that he would put the government's current basic energy plan back on the drawing board and make the nation's future energy policy not dependent on nuclear power generation.

"I will aim to make the country not dependent on nuclear power," Kan told a press conference held at the Prime Minister's Office. "I will lower the nation's dependence on it in stages and try to achieve a society that can function without nuclear power in the future.""

  • @all -Surveys to determine radiation fields and exposure rates continue sporadically at No. 2 and No. 3 plants. A cursory review of the surveys and levels discovered reveals nothing surprising to this writer at this time in terms of fixed or solid contaminanation and radiation therefrom, but there is a high airborne level in No. 2 reactor building, some 65 times the limit set by NISA.

  • @smoss uranium I am looking at their 'power' to determine the market in uranium , prices and availability e.g look at this clever deal www.tepco.co.jp and there are many others
    by elainekirk 7/14/2011 1:05:37 AM

  • @lillymunster posted by me 3hrs ago roflmao "Look we can all go home unit 3 is quake proof www.tepco.co.jp"
    by elainekirk 7/14/2011 1:08:01 AM

  • Uranium seems to be a very high stakes dirty dealing business. Areva's escapades in Africa read like a Bond movie full of bad guys, dictators and briefcases of cash. From what I read a few months ago they are estimating 70 years of decent uranium left. Stop and think about that. All the countries trying to expand nuclear power when it would end up in the exact situation as oil. Investors seem really interested in Uranium futures so it must be a big deal.
