  • @lillymunster That would be g pretty good bet. It seems like they've completely had it with the whole charade.
    by RadioGuy 7/21/2011 5:34:59 PM

  • Though in typical subdued Japanese style.
    by RadioGuy 7/21/2011 5:35:39 PM

  • it just fits to my theory that govj wants to return to normal as fast as possible. the more they spread the radiation, the lower it will be in the exclusion zones. the more people get affected, the lower is the individual dose.
    by Edano 7/21/2011 5:35:50 PM

  • and since they invented a "no harm threshold", noone will get seriously ill.
    by Edano 7/21/2011 5:37:08 PM

  • @Edano Somehow I don't think it works like in dilution of batches of milk. ;)
    by RadioGuy 7/21/2011 5:37:09 PM

  • i don't think they just forgot to test food accidentally. we had chernobyl and we know about food chains.
    by Edano 7/21/2011 5:39:05 PM

  • i get more and more cinical about a country that does not care for dolphin slaughterers and believes in blood types...
    by Edano 7/21/2011 5:44:26 PM

  • @Edano I second that emotion.
    by joniver 7/21/2011 5:48:11 PM

  • @Edano it seemed like most people found the blood type claim offensive and the guy involved is off "resting" in a hospital somewhere now.
    by lillymunster 7/21/2011 5:50:54 PM

  • @lillymunster : only the b type people found it offensive ... ;)
    by Edano 7/21/2011 5:53:06 PM

  • Looking at what pork testing has been done so far if pigs were transported out there could be a problem with the meat. yasaikensa.cloudapp.net
    by lillymunster 7/21/2011 5:57:32 PM

  • @lillymunster : there seem lots of problems if you click through the categories. and they did not test a lot of samples. yasaikensa.cloudapp.net
    by Edano 7/21/2011 6:09:58 PM

  • @Edano it isn't comprehensive testing but at least give a clue. They really need a food testing system ASAP.

  • tepco again refusing to publish an English version www.tepco.co.jp I do wonder how the IAEA can be keeping record if they are not getting docs in English

  • @elainekirk Unflattering information in Japanese, things they want read English. :-)

  • Hi Dean!
    by lillymunster 7/21/2011 6:44:02 PM

  • well the typhoon filled up more water? and how about reports of blowing debris around?
    by dean 7/21/2011 6:49:05 PM

  • @dean seemed to just dump lots of rain. I have not found any reports of high wind or damage
    by lillymunster 7/21/2011 6:51:38 PM

  • @lilly and elaine.. I have communicated with the filter company and am awaiting their response
    by dean 7/21/2011 6:54:50 PM

  • @lillymunster I don't know about typhoons, but if they're like hurricanes, those outer band rains are far from still, spring rains. They're usually gusty and wind-blown.
    by RadioGuy 7/21/2011 6:55:15 PM

  • @RadioGuy I am sure they had wind, I have not seen reports of high winds or damage. We should be able to pull historical weather data for that day if there is curiosity or to verify.

@Dean, great! Something else we would need to verify is that the connection fittings on said filters are metric. :-)

  • Total Radioisotope Aqua Purifier

The T.R.A.P cartridge is designed to remove contaminants from drinking water supplies and deliver a safe, great tasting product. The T.R.A.P is a proprietary blend of layered medias in a single cartridge that work synergistically to remove undesirable ions from water. The single step T.R.A.P. cartridge filter can be installed in either a countertop housing or an under-the-counter version. The cartridge contains pre- and post-filtration contact with purified granular activated carbon. The carbon has a high degree of microporosity which makes it a good media for the absorption of chlorine, iodine-131, and organics. The cartridge also contains a processed zeolite, which is a microporous arrangement of silica and alumina tetrahedral, effective for the removal of cesium-137, radium-226, strontium-90, and ammonia. In the final layer, a mixture of sytrenic polymer beads that have been functionalized to remove ionized contaminants are utilized for the removal of any residual iodine-131 or strontium-90 that may have passed through the initial stages.
    HOW DOES IT WORK?

Water flows over and through several filter medias, designed to remove radiation and a wide range of contaminants. The mechanisms of removal occurring in the cartridge include adsorption, ion exchange, and physical filtration.
    What Will The TRAP Remove?

    by dean 7/21/2011 7:04:49 PM

  • I just called the lab company and left an voice message with the lab director to discuss the filter efficiencies, how long they may last etc... I did give they the simplyinfo.org web site and invited them to visit
    by dean 7/21/2011 7:11:23 PM

  • @dean some sort of printout of the lab results would be useful if they can provide. We would probably need to show those to any of the NGOs etc.
    by lillymunster 7/21/2011 7:13:05 PM

  • agree,, I'm going to try to hook up you and elaine with the lab and the company so we all have some contact to them..
