Form the producer of the video on "Becquerels" and Japan's changing "safety" standards for radioactive contamination AluminumStudios has sent you a message:
Re: "Becquerels" and Japan's changing "safety" standards for radioactive contamination
    To:sailzazen
I would like to share this with Japanese speakers, however I don't have the time or enough Japanese fluency to make a good Japanese translation by myself.
If someone could translate it and give me the text however, I would be happy to put subtitles on using youtube's "CC" feature.
Actually, youtube's CC feature automatically made an English subtitle script. If someone could translate that into Japanese, I could easily add that as subtitles.
Do you know anyone would could translate from English to Japanese?

  • The Truth About Nuclear Power: Japanese Nuclear Engineer Calls for Abolition
    Koide Hiroaki
Introduction and translation by Sakai Yasuyuki and Norimatsu Satoko
    Introduction
Koide Hiroaki began his career as a nuclear engineer forty years ago drawn to the promise of nuclear power. Quickly, however, he recognized the flaws in Japan’s nuclear power program and emerged as among the best informed of Japan’s nuclear power critic. His cogent public critique of the nuclear village earned him an honourable form of purgatory as a permanent assistant professor at Kyoto University. Koide would pay a price in career terms, continuing his painstaking research on radio nuclide measurement at Kyoto University’s Research Reactor Institute (KURRI) in the shadows. • The Chiba and Tochigi prefectural governments say they will test the rice harvested in their prefectures for radiation.
The decision comes after radioactive cesium was detected in rice straw, vegetables and compost following the Fukushima nuclear accident.
Farmers in Chiba and Tochigi planted rice seedlings in their fields after the accident and are voicing concerns over possible contamination due to fallout from the Fukushima plant.
Officials in Chiba, where harvesting is expected to begin as early as August, say they will sample unmilled rice from one to several farms in each rice-growing municipality to measure radiation levels.
They say they will not allow any farms in a municipality to ship their rice unless the tests show that the radiation readings of samples from the area are within the safety limit set by the central government.
Tochigi authorities plan to have each area submit a sample for testing. They say they will also purchase 2 special devices to detect radioactive cesium, although they are still discussing the details of the testing method with the government. ex-skf.blogspot.com

  • Prime Minister Naoto Kan said the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency was siding with the industry rather than acting as a regulator. He said that underscored a cozy relationship and the deep-rooted problem that must be corrected following the March 11 tsunami and the nuclear crisis.
“NISA, which is supposed to check nuclear safety to represent the interest of the general public, provided support for the promoters. It was more than just a help, if true,’’ Kan said at an energy symposium. www.boston.com

  • Local officials kept telling her that their remote village was safe, even though it was less than 20 miles from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. But her daughter remained dubious, especially since no one from the government had taken radiation readings near their home.
So starting in April, Mrs. Okoshi began using her dosimeter to check nearby forest roads and rice paddies. What she found was startling. Near one sewage ditch, the meter beeped wildly, and the screen read 67 microsieverts per hour, a potentially harmful level. Mrs. Okoshi and a cousin who lives nearby worked up the courage to confront elected officials, who did not respond, confirming their worry that the government was not doing its job. www.nytimes.com

  • Caught this off twitter while posting the plutonium article Worker tweets: The Fukushima worker's tweets: "R4's spent fuel pool is going well. The water cooling system for the pool started running. Next will be...
"clearing debris and broken machines inside the bldg, and fixing the wall which is almost falling. I don't know much about R1-3.
"As long as R1-3 use the water clearing/recycling system, we simply build up high-level water and super high-level sludge at filters.
"What we need to do is to find holes of R1-3 and seal them. Until we finish it, everything is a band-aid, not 'stable coolant system'
"However, R1-3 bldgs are all high in radiation, plus high-level radioactive water in the basement of all three bldgs.
Clearing debris will be the first step, but it will take so many workers who will be exposed to high radiation."
