I think that the Richland high school team is still called the bombers. I have a few very crudely produced local "science shows" featuring Hanford scientists and local teens from the 50s at my office. I could send them to you when I am back in the office tomorrow.

LOL. That would be great. :-) BTW, I mentioned before you stopped in. All of the really old copies of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists are on google books. Wasn't sure if you already knew this one. Was surprised how candid they were about goings on during the early years and WWII

The crane is moving in the smoke/fog. That is an odd illusion. It is starting to clear off quickly now
by lillymunster 8/14/2011 12:00:48 AM

@lilly yeah I use the BAS on Google Books all the time. It was a very powerful and important publication during the first several decades of the atomic age. Even though many of the writers still worked inside the weapons complex they spoke very frankly and wanted to inform the public as much as possible. All of the early articles by Ralph Lapp on fallout are extremely important.
by bo 8/14/2011 12:09:36 AM

maybe sunny & co meant Armageddon when they said Armageddon
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:11:15 AM

@bo it is horrifying to think so many are totally unaware of all this
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:18:14 AM

@elainekirk everytime I hear people talk about how beautiful Savannah, Georgia is just cringe.
by bo 8/14/2011 12:20:05 AM

@bo ooh thanks, will check into some of that.
by lillymunster 8/14/2011 12:20:16 AM

Lapp was one of the first people to raise big alarms about fallout in public. He was even on Face the Nation talking about it in the 50s.

Whistle blowing: A plant inspector revealed fabrications of inspection docs for Tomari nuclear plant. @abe_yoshihiro

@bo they know that if this info was general knowledge then peep would realise that it isnt just chernobyl and fuku you don't need a major accident to have contamination for decades/centuries to come
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:26:23 AM

True true
by bo 8/14/2011 12:32:15 AM

@ikrockhopper hi is everybody having a coffee break ?
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:44:15 AM

I was reading the whistleblower article.
by lillymunster 8/14/2011 12:46:51 AM

@ikrockhopper it is bad when you suspect they arent acting in the best interests of the children then find out you are right
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:47:02 AM

@ikrockhopper it may seem off topic but I read that new international laws on pollution of oceans is being rushed through and I think Japan gov are more scared of that than they are of the people and it is a case of the radiation can go anywhere but the sea
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:51:17 AM

other areas will stop buying their harvests and manufactured goods and Japan will become a two tier society and I can see the health care for these people being very poor quality
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:53:05 AM

@ikrockhopper yes that suprised me because they have been happily raising limits they raised them again a couple of weeks back so a lot of stuff must be borderline but they dont tell the people
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:54:27 AM

the people need giving the info and means to empower , I saw an article last week where they used that EM stuff to clean a beach photos of children playing I dont think those EM people are telling them it doesnt clean radiation
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:57:27 AM

@ikrockhopper dont they realise they are making things worse if society is broken nothing works and their precious economy fails anyway
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 12:59:48 AM

@ikrockhopper thank goodness there are people who will stand up and say
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 1:00:43 AM

I have been reading on them can you confirm the name of them I searched the names on the joy website
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 1:01:31 AM

Oh no do not risk your standing or the whole thing will start to break down
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 1:02:33 AM

@ikrockhopper we are working on digging up some unbiased studies on radiation exposure and trying to pull out the statistics. But it takes time.
by lillymunster 8/14/2011 1:02:56 AM

yes it is her who gets the most following isnt it
by elainekirk 8/14/2011 1:03:02 AM
