@Edano. If you are talking about me, I am not japanese, sorry. I do not know Japanese, but I know some words and they match the translation. @Pedro jesus. Mr Yamashita is a health advisor for Fukushima prefecture and VP of Fukushima medical university. What he thinks is important.

@tomo-kun Like I said, if that translation is correct, which I highly doubt after checking some of the sources (all personal blogs with very dubious credibility), those statements are completely insane. So if you guys find it important to keep that insanity up there on this page, at least add a comment saying that that information is to be disregarded since it is unscientific and incorrect. Also, I would want to see some reliable sources and none has been presented yet. I think we're losing the focus here.

Neptunium-239 Detected from Soil in Iitate-mura in Fukushima??? The information comes from a strange source - the husband and wife comedian couple *** independent journalists attending and reporting on TEPCO and the government press conferences when they are not on stage.

In their blogpost on August 11 (in Japanese), they relate their talk with a researcher at the University of Tokyo who has submitted a scientific paper to a foreign academic society. This researcher, whom they say they cannot name because the paper is being reviewed right now, went to Fukushima and collected soil samples, rice hay samples, and water samples. He even went to the front of Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant and collected samples there.

He also went to Iitate-mura. And he tells the couple that he found neptunium-239 in Iitate-mura, about 38 kilometers from the plant, in approximately the same amount as he found at the front gate of Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant. That is the topic of his paper. ex-skf.blogspot.com

Well, but there is no Sunichi Yamashita VP of Fukushima Medical University. Those interviews and articles are probably fake. Do you have an official source stating who Dr Sunichi Yamashita is and with a photo to compare with the man in the video?

@Pedro Jesus yes i posted it yesterday. a full biography. he is newly appointed. i did a lot of research on him, because i did not believe his strange thyroid checking methods (blood, urine test, ultrasonic, cytoscreen, no gammacounter). it seemed unbelievable to me, but it is true.

@Edano Well, then you should add a comment on the pinned video. That is my whole point here. If you're sure about your sources, please add a comment there stating that what this man is saying there (if the translation is correct) is a pile of crap (not in these words). Otherwise some people visiting the page might not cross check the information and think it to be true.

Many reports from Chernobyl cited health effects due to stress and worry vs. from radiation. Three studies found that exposed populations had anxiety levels that were twice as high

@RBeaner The translation must be out of context. I don't believe someone with Dr Sunichi Yamashita's profile would say that about the situation in Japan. There must be a huge misunderstanding or someone is trying very hard to undermine Dr Yamashita's reputation. He participated on a symposium at the Nippon Foundation on April 5TH where the situation in Japan at the time was debated and explained. It would be good to find images or accurate translations of what was said at that symposium.

@Edano You understand the danger of ongoing stree and anxiety! It's a killer. Most people exposed to low doses will not be affected adversley. In the large population, there will be some deaths, but not a large number. Aren't cancer statistics , without additional radiation, that 1 out of 3 people will get cancer and like 1 out of 6 or 8 will die from cancer over lifetime?

@Edano Yamashita doesn't seem to deny the thyroid issue, but maybe now, 5 months and about 21 half lives after I131 was released, levels currently in thyroids of evacuees can't be used to evaluate the previous exposure of the kids.
