@Edano there was never really talk about evacuation from the govt or media. I remember people seeing high-ish levels and wondering when they were going to evacuate. This was when people were wondering t if it should be a 50mile zone per the US.
by lillymunster 9/28/2011 12:30:49 AM

anyway, people seem to have moved away voluntarily. fuku city looked like a ghost town i a report i saw.

@elainekirk not directly under it but very near it. Follow the curve of the reactor back to the left past those two horizonal lines and your below the leak.

Village warns residents over TEPCO redress claimsA village in Fukushima Prefecture is warning residents to be wary of signing a compensation document from Tokyo Electric Power Company for damage caused by the nuclear plant accident.
The document says that residents must renounce their right to file objections after they have received payments.
Iitate Village, located near the nuclear plant, is criticizing TEPCO for asking applicants to sign the document before the damage can be fully assessed.
Many residents have evacuated the area because of high levels of radioactivity released from the plant.
Village officials say it doesn't make sense for TEPCO to ask for signatures now.
A written warning will be distributed to all its 2,500 households.
The warning states that additional requests for redress will probably not be accepted.

@Edano thanks for that link I have spread it
by elainekirk 9/28/2011 8:57:39 AM

@Edano this is a rockhopper link
news.infoseek.co.jp Fukushima pref made calculation mistakes for cesium. Some samples was actually 25 times bigger than the previous count.
by elainekirk 9/28/2011 9:50:39 AM

@Edano oh that stinks (the TEPCO signature clause). That is a very typical insurance company tactic to get an injured party to sign away their rights prematurely. At least in the US. I would hope the lawyers in Japan jump in before people start signing those.
by lillymunster 9/28/2011 10:47:29 AM

@lillymunster yeah :( they try it, but i guess it won't be valid.
by Edano 9/28/2011 10:51:44 AM

greetings to all,,@Edano, Lilly, Peter
by dean 9/28/2011 10:53:17 AM

@elainekirk damn, i knew that they covered up the contamination of fuku city ! they couldn't evacuate, so they betrayed. damn !
by Edano 9/28/2011 10:53:56 AM

@Edano does that clause not have legal standing, as in they won't be able to invoke it if someone signs it?

@Peter @Ian strontium pills will have no effect because the oral bioavailability is very low. strontium is hardly absorbed in the intestinum, probably because of its size. you would have to do infusions.
