  • dispersal ??? to me, this means "spread and dilute", doesn't it ?
    by Edano 10/25/2011 7:16:08 PM

  • he meant disposal, not dispersal. :) :) :)
    by Edano 10/25/2011 7:16:32 PM

  • Ah the UK back to doing their nuclear industry info-mercials again? <gag>
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 7:26:23 PM

  • @Ian - we gathered data on unit 5 - should be pinned above
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 7:30:04 PM

  • @lillymunster, nice write up! I'm wondering if a bullet-style presentation might not be better to highlight each issue that raises concerns. Solid blocks of text can be a bit intimidating to parse.

    by Edano 10/25/2011 9:57:32 PM

  • @ Edano.. doing well.. my nuclear test is in the morning and should know more by noon
    by dean 10/25/2011 10:00:00 PM

  • @ Edano, my pre-op for knee surgery is tomorrow afternoon and the people that do the nuclear test will let the knee surgeon know if there is a problem.... question, how long after the stint could they do the knee surgery?
    by dean 10/25/2011 10:03:19 PM

  • @dean two days (to get the heparin out of your body).
    by Edano 10/25/2011 10:05:18 PM

  • @Edano booker can do some really good stuff but he was 'got at' a few weeks back a very nasty attack from above and it looks like they quieted the lion.....very sad
    by elainekirk 10/25/2011 10:05:54 PM

  • but i can imagine you would prefer a longer pause.
    by Edano 10/25/2011 10:06:03 PM

  • ty Edano... well I need to get some rest so will be back and bring good words hopefully
    by dean 10/25/2011 10:07:01 PM

  • @Ian the write up for now is just notes so we can add to it as people have something to contribute for data or ideas. I can try to clean it up a bit more for easier reading too.
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 10:07:57 PM

  • @elainekirk "...safe dispersal of nuclear waste..."
    by Edano 10/25/2011 10:08:22 PM

  • @Edano didn't you hear about the community fuel pool program? Store some spent fuel in your community swimming pool, get free pool heat and a subsidy. :-)

  • @lillymunster good idea. :)

    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 10:22:17 PM

  • @lillymunster in the #5 write-up, maybe you forgot the hitachi personnel collected lately around the plants ?
    by Edano 10/25/2011 10:48:24 PM

  • @Edano Did I forget to add that? Will go look.
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 10:56:30 PM

  • Just heard from Hachiko Coalition. When they made everyone evacuate they told them to leave their pets at home that they would only be gone a few days. Then closed the zone and didn't allow anyone back in for months.
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 10:58:00 PM

  • @lillymunster i think so.
    by Edano 10/25/2011 10:59:11 PM

  • @Edano that was missing from the unit 5 info. Added it in.

Global radioactivity data challenge Japanese estimates for emissions and point to the role of spent fuel pools www.scientificamerican.com

  • The disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in March released far more radiation than the Japanese government has claimed. So concludes a study1 that combines radioactivity data from across the globe to estimate the scale and fate of emissions from the shattered plant. www.nature.com
    by Majj 10/25/2011 11:37:59 PM

  • @Majj there is definitely a xenon anomaly. at fukushima more xenon was released than in chernobyl. xenon is decayed from iodine. so there is a strange discrepancy, indicating that one of the numbers must be wrong.
    by Edano 10/25/2011 11:42:50 PM

  • @Majj terrible situation where they lie to their own people A rumor (may be truth). Families of Fukushima governor and Fukushima city mayor evacuated to US and Brazil,
    by elainekirk 10/25/2011 11:43:10 PM

  • @elainekirk really? Where did you hear that? That really stinks when they have been telling people how everything is "fine". Yet their families left the country? yeesh
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 11:46:24 PM

  • @lillymunster edano's family as well.

  • @Edano @lillymunster usual source
    by elainekirk 10/25/2011 11:53:56 PM

  • @Majj - those are great articles. From the Sci Am one

The new analysis also claims that the spent fuel being stored in the unit 4 pool emitted copious quantities of caesium-137. Japanese officials have maintained that virtually no radioactivity leaked from the pool. Yet Stohl's model clearly shows that dousing the pool with water caused the plant's caesium-137 emissions to drop markedly (see 'Radiation crisis'). The finding implies that much of the fallout could have been prevented by flooding the pool earlier.
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 11:54:22 PM

  • In Rio there are more Japanese restaurants then Italian..... They are at easy here and are very welcome. They mix. People that do not mix are not welcome. We love Japanese people around here ;-)))
    by Majj 10/25/2011 11:55:09 PM

  • @Edano heard lots of comments how those with means left the region. I suppose those with even more resources left the country when they thought TEPCO was going to abandon the plant.
    by lillymunster 10/25/2011 11:55:24 PM
