@Edano was the core pressure at atmosphere before it failed?
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 12:33:20 AM

@lillymunster @Edano the mox?
by elainekirk 10/29/2011 12:35:47 AM

@lillymunster below, far below.
by Edano 10/29/2011 12:39:09 AM

@Edano If it was burning we should see some amount of smoke. I would assume the core had all melted and ejected from the RPV after how epic #3 exploded and burned for so long. But what could cause both gauges to fail at the same time and now? Heat? Radiation? It doesn't seem to make sense?
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 12:39:57 AM

and the rising radiation in control coom at the same time.
by Edano 10/29/2011 12:41:31 AM

@Edano do we have anything showing the control room location?
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 12:42:04 AM

@lillymunster i thought it is situated in the turbine building.
by Edano 10/29/2011 12:42:52 AM

we have seen the pressure gauges. they have to go inside the building to read them. maybe "instrument failure" means they cannot read the gauges because of high radiation ?
by Edano 10/29/2011 12:46:09 AM

Off topic a bit but wanted to post before I forget. Any of our US scribblers that host or create videos on Youtube etc. This senate bill would make it a felony to stream any copyrighted material. So even sampling a song or a news clip could land you in jail for 5 years. Talk about a poorly thought out law.

@Edano Hmm where would they have to go to read them? In the control room or in the outer halls of the reactor building?

this is a page of jaea contracts up for tender I just thought it may be of interest

@lillymunster i don't know the exact location but i remember a tepco photo when they exchanged the gauges. that was in #1.
by Edano 10/29/2011 12:48:40 AM

I found this elevation drawing but the words are hard to read 2.bp.blogspot.com

@Edano was that pressure gauges at 1?
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 12:50:01 AM

@Edano I will look for guages
by elainekirk 10/29/2011 12:50:53 AM

@lillymunster yes, the date of the replacement was june 4th. :)
by Edano 10/29/2011 12:51:14 AM

@Edano if that is the case I remember that required entering the reactor building and they were somewhere outside of containment in those outer lower level hallways. So inability to enter the building if rad readings are spiking is possible. Now I am curious where the control rooms are situated. They have shared control rooms but can't find a clear illustration of the rooms etc. between the reactor building and turbine building. Looking at overhead maps and other reactor building diagrams there isn't an out building that looks logical and I know it isn't in the reactor building proper based on various floor plans etc. that we have.
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 12:57:01 AM

@lillymunster i agree on the gauge location. the control room might be in the "bridge" between the buildings (reactor and turbine). i remember having seen an illustration or floor map.
by Edano 10/29/2011 1:01:07 AM

girls, have to get some sleep. i catch up tomorrow with new data.
by Edano 10/29/2011 1:05:54 AM

@Edano I am thinking that is likely. What I then what to know is what level in that "bridge" in between building is it? That could help give us a hint why the rad level spiked there. I checked twitter, no worker tweets this morning their time but it may still be early and would be Saturday there. If I can get a rough idea of control room location I can pinpoint other gear that may be nearby that might hint. If it is on an upper floor due to pipes etc. why would the pressure gauges die and high rads in an upper room that is sealed against contamination happen?
Nite. Will see what I can find before I go to sleep.

@Edano sleep well edano
by elainekirk 10/29/2011 1:07:47 AM

@all - I noticed after the video of unit 1 last week that the numbering system painted on walls may give us close to location of things. IE: 8a was by the outside of the containment bulb but below the IC units and near the IC units was 9 but I don't remember the letter. If we can start making note of those painted number/letter markers it would help in mapping out equipment in the buildings

@lillymunster are you looking for control room #3?
by elainekirk 10/29/2011 1:11:02 AM

@elainekirk yes.

I found a drawing of a generic GE ABWR - it shows the control room in an upper floor in the "bridge' building www.nd.edu

ooo I am still searching

Whatever is located at 1F is at OP10200. The story with the pic says they are restoring power to the control room s3.jrnl.ie

@lillymunster can you explain it to me more?
by elainekirk 10/29/2011 1:26:37 AM

this is better there are many instances where main control room of 3/4 is refered to

Found the control room in the Oyster Creek drawings. i306.photobucket.com
It is in the bridge area, 2nd floor. It is about level with the bottom of the RPV so why it is now highly contaminated...

@Peter at some point they created dual control rooms where one side of the room is one unit and the other side the next unit. I do not know where exactly they are but I would assume somewhere in that second level bridge area. That level of the building(s) is also the same floor level where they inspected at unit 1, under the floor with the IC units. They did a brief look at some piping and left. They briefly show the outside of containment, you can see the angled wall.
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 1:42:56 AM

Looking at drawings and getting some orientation. There are heat exchangers on those levels of the reactor building that would be possibly near the control room roughly
by lillymunster 10/29/2011 1:51:55 AM

Level 2 floorplan - spent fuel pool would be towards the lower portion of the image but level(s) above
