by dean 1/22/2012 12:57:30 AM

@lilly.. if you could look back when you put together the potential corium paths maybe you could use that along with the camera etc and try to put them together some how
by dean 1/22/2012 1:00:17 AM

@dean i can do that - will add them in. Both sets of info will be using the same elevation drawing.
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:10:14 AM

this seems to show possible pedestal openings but they only have 1 not 2

by Edano 1/22/2012 1:16:52 AM

@dean I wish we could 100% pin down the pedestal opening location. It would help see if where they looked could have been a horizontal corium path or not.
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:17:33 AM

checking on that @ lilly.... @Edano.. hi
by dean 1/22/2012 1:20:08 AM

@dean hi :)
by Edano 1/22/2012 1:20:34 AM

I found this looking for my corium drawings.

green area is the pedestal opening
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:27:24 AM

I am not sure how to translate that access opening into an accurate location vs. the penetration opening used for the camera
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:29:05 AM

Does anyone know anything about the monorail? Is it only on one side of the reactor or do they have a monorail track on both sides? This might help located things?
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:30:28 AM

If the monorail only exists on one side and if the elevation drawing is accurate then the pedestal opening may be on the opposite side from the scope penetration
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:32:21 AM

atomicinsights.com @lily and all,,, good videos of TMI-2 core with melted fuel etc. perhaps will come in handy for reference to fukushima... it's amazing how they were able to get the material when needed at what ever expense... fukushima needs better help to get videos inside those areas

The Drywell Floor Area Is Small and the Drywell Shell Is Within Ten Feet of the Pedestal Doorway
by dean 1/22/2012 1:37:44 AM

@dean at TMI was the power company paying for everything or was it a partnership or cooperation with NRC & DOE?

@lilly.. cooperation as I remember
by dean 1/22/2012 1:39:15 AM

@dean TEPCO is bemoaning the cost of a good camera.

by dean 1/22/2012 1:41:18 AM

@lilly indeed they are
by dean 1/22/2012 1:41:42 AM

the pedestal measurement graphic shows the drywell to be 22 ft. add another 2 meters per side
to that for the curve of the containment bulb at the height of the scope penetration location
roughly 8.7 meters from the penetration to the center line of containment if you went directly horizontal
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:44:25 AM

good work
by dean 1/22/2012 1:52:52 AM

One thing of note on the corium graphic I did. I didn't pay attention to where the pedestal opening is on the drawing so the corium goes the opposite direction. The intention was to just show lateral movement.
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 1:54:27 AM

@lilly, the wall of the pedistal area provides good shielding probably between where the35 opening is and a straight shot to where the corium could be. One thing seems true.. the general radiation field in that area must be horrendous

@bo, tomorrow I will make contact and discuss the material needed
by dean 1/22/2012 2:01:29 AM

@dean that is great, thanks.
by bo 1/22/2012 2:02:51 AM

@dean I hadn't even thought of that, the pedestal concrete would be a good shield. The radiation in there must be insane.
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 2:11:21 AM

by dean 1/22/2012 2:12:27 AM

I took the location of the penetration vs. where the elevation drawing roughly puts the access part of the pedestal and altered the guess at horizontal corium to match
by lillymunster 1/22/2012 2:12:41 AM

one thing the FUKUSHIMA forgot to do.. measure the radiation level along with the temperature... duh
by dean 1/22/2012 2:13:02 AM

will be back... eating...
by dean 1/22/2012 2:13:44 AM

@dean I wondered why they didn't do that....

The translation of the comments on the Sayonara Nukes event seem like some people are upset it is a rally-ish type event instead of what they see as a memorial?
