@edano A company will cut ties or distance itself if they see a partner as a liability. It would be in Areva's interest to distance themselves and point out TEPCO's flaws and their "good judgment". There can also be situations where a boss decides to hide something for a set of reasons that those doing the technical and intelligence work disagree with. Those that really know the score and implications may be motivated to get the truth out another route if the boss has their head in the sand or up a rear orifice.

@hudebnik: remember Areva has never designed or ran any BWR nuclear reactor (Areva & EDF are the same guys, originally). There were graphite-gas (at least at Chinon plant) and PWR in France, no BWR (maybe a few experimental reactors ?).
Maybe that's why they only talk about SFP.

@edano - I think the point was that Areva are PWR specialists talking about BWRs.

@edano: yes, that's what I meant: Areva knows about SFP & SFP problems, but not about BWR reactors.

the spf problem is universal and never really discussed before. they underestimated the possible problems. they focussed on the containments. the overloaded spent fuel pools is caused by the lack of nuclear waste disposals. in my opinion, this is the real and undsolvable problem and it will kill the nuke energy.

@edano, I know some of the political groups back by certain energy (and other) interests have been pushing talking points to their mouth breathing keyboard brigade. It can be amusing trying to discuss something the poster obviously has zero clue what they are saying but it isn't useful for real information distribution. I know a guy who fits this description. It can be amusing to see what this week's talking point is. I play a game of trying to track back where he got the word for word talking point he tried to pass off as his intelligent well thought out ideas.

@Nancy - I had to stop reading that after I read the part about "weapons grade uranium." So freaking silly it's not even funny.

@veen oui, pulled it into photoshop and jacked up the brightness and contrast. There is one, much less that other nights. If it was a light it would be the same intensity. So brings around the "what is it" question again.

@Nancy no the drawing we have is the forth or fifth modification to the original drawing, but usually the drawing will have a cloud or triangle refercing the number so you can compare them and you know what is a new change since the last drawing the person had..... lots of items are buit incorrectly because someone is using an old drawing...that has been updated .... the changes probaly pertain to equipment or pipie because struclual would not be in 2000 / 2002..
