That enenews link that goes back to Lousiwhitfieldhickson. I think he is massively mistaken. He was pointing to the containment dome as being flames. A bunch of us thought it was flames also until you get a full screen view it looked that way.

@bo@Nancy I agree about the processed food. As we have 2 children and live in Japan my wife and I are concerned about what school meals might contain. We are being as cautious as we can with food at home but have no control about school. It is is perhaps worth recalling past food scandals in Japan where food has been deliberately mislabeled (eg eel from China being labeled as being produced in Japan). Also instituions (schools, hospitals etc) tend to be used by government as places to use up certain stocks of food. One case would be an orphanage in our prefecture where (acording to the prefectural newspaper) children have whale meat on their diet regularly. Fairly early on in the crisis I believe food from Ehime (in western Japan) was banned by Singapore due to its levels of radiation only later for it to transpire that the food in question had actually come from Fukushima and been accidentally(?) mislabeled as being from Ehime. The more we think about eating local food however, the less straight forward it seems. For instance, even assuming the milk is indeed produced locally, the same cannot necessarily be said of the food consumed by the cows. Similarly we thought eating local fish was unproblematic, until one of my students whose husband is the head of the local fisheries association said many of the local fish are of course farmed and their food was supplied from Tohoku. Having now lost pretty much all trust in the authorities here, at least in the context of the nuclear crisis, we are unsure what to do for the best, especially in relation to school meals. I know how radiation can compromise the food chain over both time and distance. In the UK (where I am originally from) sheep in ***bria are still checked for radiation.

@Will can school children in Japan bring their lunch from home or do the have to eat the school prepared lunch? BTW, we have similar issues in the US. The school lunch program is the dumping ground for low quality food. I won't let our kids eat school lunch here, they bring from home every day.

@Nancy Some schools have packed lunch, while others don't. At my daughter's elementary school all the children are expected to eat school meals. After the Golden Week holidays my wife and I are considering asking if she can take a packed lunch. Unfortunately she would be the only one doing so. Also the principal has made a speech to the school about how all food is safe and their is no danger of contamination in food (or in air, water, or soil) from Fukushima, so I don't think there would be any sympathy. Considering we also found out on March 11th that the school has no proper tsunami evacuation plan (and still doesn't...it is officially thinking about one!), we feel reluctant to send her to elementary school at all right now to be honest.

Has any one looked at this live cam this morning? Is the blue on te screen the same we've been seeing on tepcam periodically
