BWR operates at around 570F and 1000 psi steam.. Jim.. remember that bulk heating curve... the slope of the bulk boiling goes up and then approaches departure from nuclear boiling

In the boiling water reactor (BWR), the water which passes over the reactor core to act as moderator and coolant is also the steam source for the turbine. they get alittle more efficiency out of PWR's because of the elevated temp at higher pressures but the PWR's are alot more expensive.. so the BWR's were chosen at the beginning

yep.. the worst thing as far as contamination is ALPHA contamination.. you can't go through and decontaminate it without it traveling right behind you
