  • well the alpha contamination would come up in lab's where it wasn't contained by the HVAC system. so, they would have to go decontaminate the floors etc. and by the time they fixed the HVAC they were surrounded with alpha.. and it's not good to get on you..

  • @Jim Carver lmao!!
    by Angie 5/5/2011 2:29:11 AM

  • I trimmed a bit of the screen recording I did when the operator of the Live camera was panning and zooming around -- it shows the 'flicker' down low on the side of #2. There was also a much longer period where it was visible on the live cam, but I wan't recording at the time...

  • @Angie cool, they're talking about a fire over there..
by Jim Carver 5/5/2011 2:35:10 AM

  • look cam
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:35:36 AM

  • @Cat I see that! Steam/smoke is puffing out actively from the low part of #2 where that flicker was...
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 2:36:00 AM

  • loads of white steam pouring out horizontally from#2
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:36:20 AM

  • Yes, it was very horizontal for a minute there...
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 2:36:44 AM

  • crawls along the ground
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:37:51 AM

  • I can still see the 'bright spot' and lots of smoke from 2
by marie rich 5/5/2011 2:38:59 AM

  • I think the flicker was a spotlight. maybe something going on there last night. seemed to stay prettyconstant for an hour or so
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:39:53 AM

  • @Cat I keep thinking about that, and am all for hoping it was a spotlight. However, would they leave the spotlight on all day? Would it be this visible from this distance if it's a spotlight? I wonder...
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 2:44:38 AM

  • #2 seems to puff smoke at fairly regular intervals with definate pauses between. What could cause that?
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:48:10 AM

  • @Cat it reminds me of what it looks like when you spray water on a hot radiator.
    by radioguy 5/5/2011 2:49:36 AM

  • I think that the bright spot we are seeing now is just light on those low down steam puffs. Before there was a clear spot of light that was only obscured when the smoke got really thick around it.
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:51:24 AM

  • sorry I didn't catch a screen dump cos cam switched to a night stream. Still puzzled about that. By the time I rebooted my computer and got the right pic. back it was getting lighter, and the spot was gone.
    by Cat 5/5/2011 2:56:02 AM

  • @Cat did you see the clip I linked to below? It is daytime, spot clearly visible...
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 2:56:42 AM

  • smoke/steam seems very heavy. It almost rolls out of #4 and pours down to the ground. The only stuff going upwards is the more energetic puffs from #2, and even those look heavy and rounded. Is the dust storm still happening? Could that cause it?
    by Cat 5/5/2011 3:01:51 AM

  • @Askwhy yes that was what I saw earlier but that was 00: , my cam showing 1:20 It is much lighter now and no light visible.
    by Cat 5/5/2011 3:07:01 AM

  • @Cat that video is from 3 hours ago, when it was approximately 9am there.
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 3:09:21 AM

  • Yes I lost my cam for a while then. I don't think the cam shows the actual time. Now it seems brighter, so maybe thats why it a spot light might be no
    longer visible.
    by Cat 5/5/2011 3:14:47 AM

  • @Cat correct, the live cam does not show the time of day. The numbers below it are the time that the stream has been running for since the last reset/interruption.
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 3:16:48 AM

  • @Askwhy. Three hours ago would have been around 9am in japan, and it looks really foggy. I think they had got a spotlight on, and turned it off sometime after 9am
    by Cat 5/5/2011 3:19:46 AM

  • @Askwhy. You can't still see light now can you?
    by Cat 5/5/2011 3:22:06 AM

  • @Cat no, not at the moment. At this point, as with much of this stuff, we don't really know enough to say. Just going to keep watching...
    by Askwhy 5/5/2011 3:25:37 AM

  • @Askwhy. I will check back later, got to sleep it's 4.30am
