Japan Earthquake | Page 985

  • @angie do they actually believe that no pipes ruptured/cracked/broke seals during the quake/explosion? there seem to be an awful lot of unknowns and they seem to be focusing everything on that reactor .....it just isn't adding up in my head
    by elainekirk 5/5/2011 9:16:31 AM

  • Its just like when they pretended that it was as if the reactors had come unplugged, and if they could just get power to the buildings, they could just plug the cooling systems back in and everything would be dandy.
    by bo 5/5/2011 9:17:41 AM

  • @bo @elainekirk I agree with what you guys just said. I still shake my head at least twice a day after reading an article. Nothing much adds up........hasnt from the start and its still not.

  • @bo you said you could get translations? this doc is bugging me and it is too big for google translate and doing it in bits just brings up gobbledegook www.meti.go.jp
    by elainekirk 5/5/2011 9:25:32 AM

  • @elainekirk, I can, but a doc this big would take quite a while (and should be compensated). Maybe it would be best for me to have a friend read the doc and explain what is in it and we can prioritize what to translate from that. Ne?
    by bo 5/5/2011 9:28:20 AM

  • @bo that would be perfect I only want to know if there is anything relevant and it would be perfect if you could just get a yes/no
    by elainekirk 5/5/2011 9:30:33 AM

  • @elainekirk no prob, downloaded a copy and will run it by someone at work tomorrow and get back to you.
    by bo 5/5/2011 9:31:50 AM

  • @bo fantastic thank you it is february this year and talks of the age of the reactors I was thinking maybe we will read if they did upgrade to the standards set out in 2006 (99.99% sure that they didnt every doc talks about doing it but never found one showing it was done very clever wording sometimes but no absolute) it would be good to find something
    by elainekirk 5/5/2011 9:32:25 AM

  • @elainekirk it does look like that doc is from Feb. 7, before the accident, given the date at the top

  • @Elaine. I have those 2 EQ docs I was working on translated, trying to get images into the testing document. Did you find actual reports on the suggested changes to the old reactors at Hamaoka?

  • @elainekirk His last twitter about a 7 year old boy dieing?

    by elainekirk 5/5/2011 11:59:37 AM

  • @elainekirk when you have time, no big rush, can you email it so it doesn't get lost. Building a picture of the EQ testing & retrofits. Lots of gaps in what was done. Finding nothing about FUKU putting in those ceiling braces or anything else of significance at all!
    by Nancy 5/5/2011 12:01:20 PM

  • Watashi No Tomodachi ohio gozaimashu. Good morning Friends
    by carabnr 5/5/2011 12:04:48 PM

  • the ceiling braces weren'#t fitted the modification results in a kind of extra layer raising the centre strip front to back iykwim so I say they didnt modify. Also I find no sign of them making the historical changes to the venting pipework that reduced hydrogen explosion risks , the safer design has the pipes having elbows so it goes up like
