Tippycam is all over the place right now
by bo 5/15/2011 8:11:29 AM

@bo last night when it was panning it was obvious he was looking for something I could imagine the camman getting texts/calls pointing him to stuff happening inside ]
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:15:47 AM

@bo it certainly isn't random 'lets browse' type panning he was desperte to get a focus on the smoke that was coming from the front of 4 at one point a few hrs ago
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:17:09 AM

@elainekirk I agree. Also fascinating to see the long shot and get some perspective
by bo 5/15/2011 8:17:42 AM

@bo looking at your shot they look to have burried the pump arm in the roof trusses!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:18:59 AM

Not a good indicator. Ugh.

On my end, time to open a good Bordeaux...
by bo 5/15/2011 8:23:43 AM

With the news posted below that the GOJ has begun to evacuate more areas outside of the exclusion zone, do you think this is them being humanitarian, or do you think that they know significant releases may be coming and they want to get the children out of there first?
by bo 5/15/2011 8:26:17 AM

@bo is it the pump
arm?
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:26:19 AM

It looks like it. The red pump arm, and it is clearly entering into the building.
by bo 5/15/2011 8:26:53 AM

@bo it will be interesting to see if it moves. I havent read down yet so they are evacuating I wonder if that is to stop the tweets
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:31:18 AM

@bo there were many tweets yesterday that were distressing
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:31:49 AM

@elainekirk not a tweeter, fill me in.
by bo 5/15/2011 8:33:29 AM

@bo very sad ones people saying they were going to die from it that they had no support that they had been left there in the poison I have google search for fukushima translated to Japanese running sometimes and then translate results randomly and I am shocked past 48hrs how the mood has changed
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:37:22 AM

@hudebnik well we expected it but it isnt good is it
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:38:40 AM

@hudebnik good morning, or at least morning. @elainekirk I think people here are starting to realize with the news of the full melting of #1 that the situation is far worse than they were assuming. There is a fatalistic feeling here. There are not many sources of info in the Japanese press (yeah Asahi!). I bet there is a lot of free floating distress with no sense of agency.
by bo 5/15/2011 8:39:31 AM

When you come to realize that you have just been sitting there while one of the plants had fully melted weeks ago, that can lead you to feel that you have no control, and you have no idea what else is happening.
by bo 5/15/2011 8:40:54 AM

@hudebnik agreed
by bo 5/15/2011 8:41:08 AM

The news of the (weeks old) full meltdown will have a huge affect
by bo 5/15/2011 8:42:14 AM

I tweet and follow a few that I met when parents were trying to get the school situation highlighted and mums/dads who opened witter accounts just to try to get support (you could tell as they had few followers at first) are now retweeting stuff it is like they have discovered an outlet
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:42:34 AM

@hudebnik have fun! @UKVal good morning
by bo 5/15/2011 8:42:40 AM

@ukval oh they are finding support because the advantage of twitter is if you retweet someones message it gets picked up and others start following the original tweeter so they can keep abreast so even if not everyone replies the tweeter knows they are getting support from the increase in followers
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:53:14 AM

@ukval also when you do a google search and set it to 'latest' in the options down the left you get all tweets with your search term as well as news items , blogs etc
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:55:11 AM

@ukval the latest one sometimes scrolls too fast to read but there is a pause button lol
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 8:59:45 AM

yeah @ukval the retweet system kicks in very well doesn't it lol. Of f to church back soon.
by elainekirk 5/15/2011 9:13:06 AM

@UKVal Ok I think I have managed to work out how to pin things! lol Was that the one you wanted?
by Angie 5/15/2011 9:18:57 AM

@UKVal lets hope they do!
by Angie 5/15/2011 9:20:48 AM

@UKVal That is very true! Powerless is very much how I feel,
