@Nancy, I do not know whether shutting down the isolation condenser system involves closing this valve. - @Nancy , I understand too little of this, but what you mention should have cooled the reactor down on battery power alone, provided that the electrical connectivity was intact. Somehow this Emergency Cooling did not happen and apparently things went awry already before the tsunami hit. With regard to the accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, I am aware of some media reports that the cooling systems were manually suspended. I believe that we first need to instruct Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) to submit a detailed report on the facts and backgrounds, and then make our assessment and judgment based on that report. We will also urge TEPCO to fully disclose the contents of the report.

- when the corium, in case 1 began to exit the bottom head of the reactor vessel it dropped to the concrete containment floor and if in mass would begin melting the containment floor then would be in the main basement floor.. but I believe would have spread outby dean 5/17/2011 3:56:55 AM
