  • @Veenie I think this is the same paper that had the 300 meter hole in 2 this morning. We figured out it was a translation error. No idea what the deal is with this one on the sludge

  • @lillymunster Thanks, i trust the munich way more than the weird name one below and they took the original article anyways, none of their own work.

  • There are SO many subtexts to this story: www.reuters.com
"The US Senate voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to eliminate billions of dollars in support for the US ethanol industry, sending a strong message that the era of big taxpayer support for biofuels is ending."

  • @veenie The pellet storage tanks for storing the sludge, which are the
storage facilities for the waste with high concentration of4
radioactive materials are buildings themselves and have a
double-layered; the inner surface is coated with a protective
concrete material while the outside is constructed to prevent
leakage www.nisa.meti.go.jp you need to read it Walt Disney couldnt even think this one up

  • @radioguy - US subsidies for grains are done. World starvation will now go through the roof.
by Rob in SF 6/16/2011 11:38:18 PM

  • @Rob in SF the corn growers have been using ethanol to drive up the price. It could actually make the price drop depending on other factors.
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 11:39:56 PM

  • @veenie I cannot believe the c*ap that nisa/meti accept
    by elainekirk 6/16/2011 11:40:16 PM

  • @Rob in SF In the midst of a drought in China which has removed 35% of their wheat and 50% of their rice, and they're huge producers of both, AND flooding in the US heartland that has taken out millions of acres of farmland.

  • @elainekirk Really ? isn't it shady, that they in the first place never raised all alrm beel's ?.TEPCO is too powerful, seems like they have all branches of GoJ in pocket's.thing is, even if true and Kan is independant, when they cut him, NONE of it will help the Jpn people..

  • @radioguy yup all the others are leaking too slowly and will overflow so we will say this one doesnt leak and put it all there
    by elainekirk 6/16/2011 11:48:44 PM

  • @radioguy add in all the foods that are being messed with due to speculators. It is going to be ugly in the US, it will be even worse other places.
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 11:50:37 PM

  • @ radioguy. The us and world grain reserves all also at record lows. The back up global grain supply is less than 100 days!

  • 50% of China's Rice!!! And as we all know, radiation collects and pools in rainfall, and rice is grown in puddles. How long before SE Asian rice is iffy?

  • If this goes through... @All- I am very concerned and disheartened by the removal/suspension of the other scribble page. It seems that things are becoming quite confused here and I am saddened by this latest development. If someone would care to explain I'm on FB. If not, I'm on FB. I will likely not be posting here again until things are resolved or explained. I don't understand why the unmoderated board would be shut down- first it was deleting the list of "jobs/tasks" and now this. I read back and find no reason for this at all- here or there- though I could have missed something or perhaps it has been removed. I just don't understand why this has turned into such a seemingly sensored and narrow-focused group. :( I wish you all the very best and hope that things are able to be resolved somehow. Hugs.

  • You really really want to go read this report that nisa/meti have accepted without visiting onagawa it is all in Japanese but believe me just looking will tell you how thorough a doc it is www.nisa.meti.go.jp link at bottom of report
    3. The outline for the Check and Evaluation Plan (about buildings and
structures) related to the integrity of the facilities of Units 1 to 3 of
Onagawa NPS submitted by Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. is as shown
in the attachment. In future, however, NISA will confirm onsite that
Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. is implementing the steps as indicated in
the Check and Evaluation Plan; as well, NISA will strictly determine 2
whether the results of the checks and the results of the evaluation are
    reasonable.

  • I'm not sure if this new trend is blame the US or blame GE? english.aljazeera.net
    by lillymunster 6/16/2011 11:59:08 PM

  • @AustralianCannonball The situation in the US due to the Mississippi Basin flooding is so far inpossible to assess, becasue the flooding may last all summer, but farmland removed nubers grow so fast you can't keep track of them. Municipal water and treatment facilities will also be under water with all the issues that creates keeping adequate stocks of drinkable water,. In a flood. Yeah, it's a mess.

    Anything new on Ft Calhoun?
    by radioguy 6/17/2011 12:01:14 AM

  • @radioguy I am at work so gotta get back to it but it shocks me they build these plants on floodplains. I'm anti-nuclear so I dont like them anyway but this just is the icing on the cake. Its an absolute joke. I live in Queensland Australia and I know all about floods. So if this river is a slow riser they may have some time but I heard there were some issues with earthen levees. This world is stuffed. i gotta go get a coffee!.
    by AustralianCannonball 6/17/2011 12:04:37 AM

  • @AustralianCannonball They were built around the same time as fukushima. There seems to have been a mentality that natural disasters don't happen.

  • sustainabledevint.com
Here's a photo from Cooper NPS, also on the Missouri in Nebraska, after the 1993 flood collapsed the levees. (That was nothing compared to this. I hope they did a LOT of work on those levees.)

by radioguy via Sustainabledevint 6/17/2011 12:07:13 AM

  • You don't even need to look at the flood plain maps to see how iffy the situation is there, but here's the whole set of images on cryptome.org
    by radioguy 6/17/2011 12:13:31 AM

  • I think it would be beneficial to pin a note up regarding the other board being closed so that those in search of it understand why it's closed, hopefully temporarily.
