  • @lillymunster yup you are gonna be busy havent read goj doc myself yet but edano says the diagrams are good
    by elainekirk 9/16/2011 9:07:07 PM

  • @Edano. If your still around can you post links to the graphics you posted of the contamination earlier? I wanted larger versions than what scribble rendered and didn't know where they came from

  • TEPCO sell-off to cover damages. According to sources, TEPCO will commission four trust banks to sell the assets. They are Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp., Mizuho Trust and Banking Co., The Chuo Mitsui Trust and Banking Co. and The Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co.
The utility will begin by selling employee residences in Setagaya and Meguro wards, Tokyo, and Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture; dormitories in Chiba's Chuo Ward and Sodegaura, Chiba Prefecture, and Konan Ward, Yokohama; recreation facilities in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, and in the Shukugo district of Utsunomiya. These assets are expected to be sold relatively easily.
...... It is important for TEPCO to raise money quickly to compensate people affected by the crisis at the Fukushima power plant. The firm's operating costs have also increased, as TEPCO, with its idled nuclear power plants, has to purchase fuel for thermal power generation..... www.yomiuri.co.jp
    by Majj 9/16/2011 10:31:07 PM

  • @Majj well if it is that bad why commission 4 banks ????? and more to the point why not sell of valuable assets like their investments in media etc
    by elainekirk 9/16/2011 10:35:21 PM

  • @elainekirk Just Public Relations. Selling this kind of property is not enough even for beginning of the payments.....
    by Majj 9/16/2011 10:52:30 PM

  • @elainekirk But this is , what call my attention on this article. Danger Danger. ....... The firm's operating costs have also increased, as TEPCO, with its idled nuclear power plants, has to purchase fuel for thermal power generation.....
    by Majj 9/16/2011 10:55:09 PM

  • @Majj nope totally farcical
    by elainekirk 9/16/2011 10:55:12 PM

  • @elainekirk I did not now that TEPCO has to BUY electricity from others to supply the customers. In my head was ."They don't make they don't sell". The reality is they don't make they have to BY to sell.... No wonder they want so desperate to start ALL the reactors again....
    by Majj 9/16/2011 11:09:23 PM

  • @Majj TEPCO and the other power companies have been "overestimating" (lying) about power demand in Japan and some other statistics for a long time. They based their costs on some whacked out numbers that were way higher and used those inflated numbers to justify their high rates. Govt. in Japan has to approve rate increases. So TEPCo and the other power companies have been ripping people off. I think Edano taking office had something to do with this coming to light.
    by lillymunster 9/16/2011 11:12:52 PM

  • @lillymunster Got it
    by Majj 9/16/2011 11:21:55 PM

    by elainekirk 9/16/2011 11:24:56 PM

  • @elainekirk Umbeliveble. This ,make the article we are cementing "totally farcical' as you said. Thanks for open my Eyes .
    by Majj 9/16/2011 11:32:21 PM

  • @Majj what was cool about the whole mess was that average people figured it out that TEPCO was overestimating demand this summer. They ran the math and started telling people and putting it on twitter. THEN the news media picked up on it and eventually the whole claim of rolling blackouts and that Japan can't live without nukes went away quick.
    by lillymunster 9/16/2011 11:35:39 PM

  • @lillymunster Corruption is the big problem of man kind ..... It is every where , in all levels of society. Every where . This really make development of the society in a Global level , very difficult....
    by Majj 9/16/2011 11:46:38 PM

  • @Majj very true. It seems to be of epic proportion everywhere. I hope things like the internet can be used to help counter act it.

  • Old (may) but relevant - between sept 2010 and the disaster they had already spent 33billion but it still left a pot of 414billion so where is that ? I doubt it is in the pockets of their victims ....
The initial use of proceeds (totaled 446.8 billion yen) from a series of
the offering resolved in September 2010 was for "capital investment toward
a low-carbon society" and "investment and financing in growth
opportunities" under our new management vision "2020 Vision." TEPCO has
already used 23.3 billion yen for "capital investment toward a low-carbon
society" and 9.4 billion yen for "investment and financing in growth
opportunities" out of the total amount. www.tepco.co.jp

  • kyodo has returned to bring news about japanese boygroups, sports, pokemons and noodle museums on page 1. japanese society is so strange, just like a 'matrix' of distraction. and they use funny words like "defectors" for north korean refugees. it appears to me like another universe.
    by Edano 9/17/2011 12:58:55 AM

  • Back in Japan after a couple of months in Europe. Pretty sad picture. Children`s TV programmes extolling nuclear power, and on TV right now a children`s programme featuring mushroom tasting. Almost nothing about Fukushima..not that there was any mnore coverage in European mainstream media. The Japanese post office has a big promotion for ordering food from Fukushima...support Fukushima, eat cheesecake produced from local ingredients. Household rubbish recycling is still strict...I used to think that was a good thing, but when there is radioactive landfill you have to ask what is the point. Some power saving going on but the pachinko lights are still blainbg away, not to mention the vending machines. Talking to people is pretty depressing too. There is so little awareness and people who do worry about what is going on are worried about speaking out and losing there jobs and being ostracised. It is distressing. Any chance of significant social change following Fukushima seems unlikely now. Hope I am wrong.

  • My comment to that video :
Wow, whitewashing BS in the first sentence: "a partial nuclear meltdown." WTF?! Three Mile Island had a partial meltdown and was nothing compared to Fukushima which had 3 Full meltdowns, and that isn't disputed by any credible source.
    by Ian 9/17/2011 4:07:23 AM

  • Hi all! Just wanted to thanks for all you do. I've still been reading, just haven't had much to post. I am now a foster parent to a 15 year old girl, as well as a "real" parent to a 17 year old girl. The foster parent thing is mind boggling. Not much help for teens that are left homeless. So here I am, doing what I can to make this girl's life better. Anyway, thanks for keeping me up to date. Sorry I don't have much time for research, but a giant thank you for those that do! I still "lurk" daily!

  • Potentially Radioactive Lumber to Be Promoted with "Eco-Point" Incentive? Seiji Maehara, who lost his bid to become the party leader and the prime minister of Japan, has nonetheless landed on a very powerful party position as the chairman of the DPJ's policy bureau.
He went to Fukushima, and after visiting with the evacuees from Iitate-mura, he disclosed his party's plan to use the "eco-point" system for residential housing to promote timber from the disaster-affected area.
    Aggghhhhh.
What is the "eco-point" for houses? Well, if you build or renovate your house with energy saving features and alternative energy features (eg. solar panels) the government will give you "eco-points". Then you can use the points at participating stores and buy whatever you want to buy with the points. ex-skf.blogspot.com
