  • @lilly. the other day I thought I was seeing some sort of columns next to #4.... maybe that was just me, have you seen anything like that? I thought they were clearing debris around #4

  • was on the cam and I think tepco
    by dean 1/6/2012 11:08:51 PM

  • @dean they cleared off Unit 4 building rubble by the SFP but that was a while ago. They were inspecting after new years because the pool skimmer was leaking water. It might have had to do with that?

  • Unit 3 seawater contamination suddenly triples:
The Unit 3 intake levels more than three times
    January 06, 14:19 minutes
Near the intake of Unit 3 and Unit 2 nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi Tokyo Electric Power Co., 5 days, the concentration of radioactive materials contained in sea water was collected in Unit 2, but there was no significant change in the Unit 3 before rose to more than three times the day.
Around the nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi, the collected water TEPCO such as near the intake of Unit 3 and Unit 2 was detected radioactive material in a high concentration of water in May and April last year, the measurement of radioactive material We do. 5 days, from seawater collected near the Unit 2 intake, 0.12 becquerels of cesium twice the national standard of 134 per 1cc, was found 1.7 times the 0.15 becquerels of cesium 137. In addition, Unit 3 intake around 0.76 becquerels of cesium-134 13 times the reference was found 11 times 0.96 becquerels of cesium-137. Unit 2 near the intake, but there was no significant change in concentration in the vicinity of the No. 3 intake is more than three times the concentration of the previous day. Meanwhile, five days and four days, a survey conducted in 10 locations coast and offshore combined, including approximately 330 m south near the outlet of Unit 4 from Unit 1 of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, two locations in coastal Radioactive cesium has been detected in significantly lower than any standard. www3.nhk.or.jp

#1 had some drywell pressure fluctuations lately. maybe due to nitrogen injection adjustment, maybe due to drilling ? from this point of view, i would make the guess that they may be drilling #1.

by Edano via Houseoffoust 1/7/2012 12:52:00 AM

#1 drywell radiation has stabilized to about 7 Sv/hr now. no spikes anymore. #2 has 7 Sv/hr as well, while #3 is lower with ~3 Sv/hr. www.houseoffoust.com

by Edano via Houseoffoust 1/7/2012 12:54:51 AM

  • i think the drilling under #2 could cause a higher water pollution if the corium is out. they need cooling water to do the drilling and it will surely leak into the sea.
    by Edano 1/7/2012 1:02:33 AM

  • Great, so a human will be fried in about 5 min, and a robot in 10 min in unit 1 drywell. No way to open the cap with that sort of radiation is there? You stick a crane in there for a few hours and it will become radioactive won't it?

#1 drywell radiation has stabilized to about 7 Sv/hr.
    by artnuke 1/7/2012 1:05:04 AM

  • i think the equipment (robots) they will send in there is just for one use. no return.
    by Edano 1/7/2012 1:06:26 AM

  • well, in relation to the 512 Sv/hr in september, the situation in #1 is a paradise now. :)

  • The plan for drilling into unit 2 containment involves a drilling rig & the camera with a long scope on it. They are supposed to go in the back sea side door and in that hallway that goes around the ground floor. There is a containment door in that back area. They are drilling in somewhere around there.

I don't know if they are going to set it up and run it remotely or have workers inside the building. I can't remember what the rad levels are like in unit 2 inside ground level??

Sea side door being the area between the turbine buildings and reactor buildings.
