  • @UKVal Yes, nobody can upload docs. If you don't have a web address for the document online you can email it to me and I can upload it to the web server to give it public location to link to. PDFs can also be uploaded to google docs
    by lillymunster 2/2/2012 12:29:57 AM

  • @lily - I don't have the web address & wanted to upload the Nov 10 TEPCO statement on the 'start of the regular inspection' as that is where I found the info on plans for dry cask storage ar #4 , but you may have it already..
    by UKVal 2/2/2012 12:33:34 AM

  • @elainekirk , thanks, but I archive pics on photobucket. After that, it is easy enough to link them here.

  • Feb 2 (Reuters) - More than 8 tonnes of water have leaked from Japan's stricken nuclear power plant after a frozen pipe burst inside a reactor buiding, but none of the water is thought to have escaped the complex, Kyodo news agency said on Thursday. www.reuters.com

  • just had a look at TEPCo cam - i'm hoping that white streak rising from 1 is flare from sun?
    by UKVal 2/2/2012 12:59:32 AM

  • @UKVal oh goodness me
    by elainekirk 2/2/2012 1:01:12 AM

  • I think it is sun on the plastic cover

I didn't realize the leak at 4 was due to freezing.
    by lillymunster 2/2/2012 1:02:20 AM

  • @lillymunster yes it must be as there's too much wind for it to rise straight up like that

  • @lillymunster 'attempt' being the operative word
    by elainekirk 2/2/2012 1:27:21 AM

  • @elainekirk I keep seeing these elaborate plans to decontaminate entire cities but the test decontamination has mostly been a failure. So they will waste this money trying to get back these cities when they could use that money to relocate people with kids.

  • I'm hoping this guy's off his trolley: 'Arto Lauri, former employee at the Finnish nuclear facility of Olkiluoto, provides a very clear explanation of how the Fukushima disaster happened and what caused the various explosions. He explains how HAARP was used to try and minimize the radiation in the atmosphere and Arto provides various other very insightful information'. thewatchers.adorraeli.com -you need to scroll down the page to watch this vid.

  • @UKVal i'm going to start a Fukushima conspiracy theory bingo card. :-)
    by lillymunster 2/2/2012 2:13:31 AM

  • @lilly.. done and sent back
    by dean 2/2/2012 2:16:04 AM

  • @lillymunster great idea! Mind you the 1st bit of his vid is intriguing - in terms of costs/ benefits & uranium supply issues leading to the Japanese trying to overcome the issues in an unsafe manner... worth watching the 1st part at least.. but he probably is just nuts
    by UKVal 2/2/2012 2:17:18 AM

  • @UKVal if you follow the financial market news uranium supplies are considered rather finite. IIRC 50-75 years worth at current use rate?
    by lillymunster 2/2/2012 2:19:43 AM

Apparantly a squirrel caused this to happen according to the goverment folks, they took a real interest in this video when they found out it was filmed.. Poor squirrel.

It was so bright you couldn't look at it, later in the video you will see metal dropping as the electricity welds the metal - you will notice a toxic brown smoke towards the end.

  • www.youtube.com 500,000 VOLTS switch opening.. notice how the arc keeps the connection
    by dean 2/2/2012 2:29:14 AM

  • @lillymunster He claims that uranium supply was reduced by 70% after Russia stopped supplying in 2008 & so NP producers across the world looked to MOX from France & the UK, but they have discovered that it is uncontrollable & cannot be extinguished & its use is causing reactors to burn in several countries.
    by UKVal 2/2/2012 2:30:02 AM

  • @UKVal have not heard about any reactor fires, i think that would be a big deal. Japan has been pursuing MOX since the 80's or early 90's. It is really dicey to run. There is a reason all the US power plants declined the invitation to run it. So I would give his theory a maybe? I do know many US plants are asking to run fuel longer before refueling now.
    by lillymunster 2/2/2012 2:32:57 AM

  • @dean awesome
    by elainekirk 2/2/2012 2:34:07 AM

  • @elaine.. high voltage is nothing to fool around with... I showed those to give an idea of how things short out etc. and for instance when that insulator blew at the bryon plant power lines how violent it can be
